Man United boss Mourinho insists he remains one of the world's best managers

Mourinho says not winning the Premier League for United does not change the fact that he remains one of the best managers in the world

- His side suffered a disappointing start to the 2018-19 English topflight with back-to-back defeats to Brighton and Tottenham

- United battle Burnley this weekend and hope to return to winning ways

Underfire Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that he remains "one of the greatest managers in the world" even if he fails to win Premier League title for Manchester United.

The Red Devils have suffered their worst start to the season for the first time since the 1992-93 season after losing two of their first three EPL matches.

Jose Mourinho greets Mauricio Pochettino ahead of the Premier League match between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on August 27, 2018 in Manchester, United Kingdom.

United dropped to 13th on the log following their 3-0 home defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Monday, August 27.

The former Real Madrid and Chelsea handler while defending himself said he was "the only manager to win in Italy, Spain and England."

He added that last season was 'one of his greatest achievements' after leading his side to second place finish on the table.

I am the manager of the one of the greatest clubs in the world but I'm also one of the greatest managers in the world," said Mourinho.

Asked if he would still be a great manager if he did not win the title with United - who have won the English top flight 20 times, including 13 Premier Leagues - the Portuguese replied: "Of course.

Did you never spend time reading the philosopher Hegel?"

The truth is in the whole. It's always in the whole that you find the truth. Do you ask the same question to the manager that finished third in Premier League last season or the manager that finished fourth or fifth?" The Red Devils boss asked.

Mourinho's latest comments come after a news conference during which he demanded "respect" from journalists following Monday's 3-0 home loss to Tottenham - the heaviest home defeat of his career.

"I had great success last season and that's probably what you don't want to admit," the Portuguese said prior to his team's trip to Burnley on Sunday, September 2.

He pointed out that the three Premier League titles he had won previously with Chelsea were more than the rest of the division's managers combined.

Two seasons ago we had a fantastic season because we won the Europa League. We won it because it was our level. We are the last team in England to win a European competition," Mourinho defiantly said.

I have won eight titles. I'm the only manager to win in Italy, Spain and England.

Not small titles, proper titles, and my second place last season was one of my greatest achievements in football," he said.

Mourinho and his men will hope they can bounce back to winning ways when they battle Burnley at the Turf Moor this weekend.

TUKO.co.ke earlier reported that United suffered their second straight defeat in the 2018-19 season following their heavy home loss to Spurs.

The Red Devils went into this game with the hopes of getting maximum points after losing their last tie at Brighton but that was not the case.

Although there was no goal scored in the first 45 minutes but Jose Mourinho's were completely mesmerized by Tottenham in front of their faithfuls.
