Nigeria: Church of Satan Slams Nigerian Newspaper Over Headline

It seems the Church of Satan has had enough of Nigerians dragging Satan into every fault of theirs.

A recent headline by a mainstream media, DailyPost titled Osibanjo an emissary of Satan, betrayed the Church-Fani-Kayode generated an outburst from the Church of Satan, a religious organization dedicated to Satanism.

See the tweet below:

As expected, Nigerians have responded to the tweet:

The church of Satan has several times dissociated themselves from having a relationship with Nigeria. In April, they publicly rebuked the president of Nigeria, Muhammed Buhari for linking the Benue killings to Satan and had a duel with Yemi Alade.

If this is an issue they will like to formally address with Nigerians, we await.

Catholic church withdraws support for death sentence, Pope says it's outdated

- The Catholic Church will no longer support death sentence following new changes

- Pope Francis changed the teaching of the church noting death sentence was outdated

- The changes were enacted by the body responsible for defending Catholic doctrine

- The changes come at a time when debate is rife in Kenya on whether the penalty should be substituted with life imprisonment

While the death penalty handed to Ruth Kamande for stabbing her boyfriend to death continues to draw debate on capital punishment, the Catholic church has changed its teachings on the same.

Pope Francis changed the catechism of the church-the compilation of official Catholic teachings-on the penalty, concluding it was wrong as it attacked human dignity.

Pope Francis changed the catechism of the church on the penalty, concluding it was wrong as it attacked human dignity.

The new teaching saying the previous policy was outdated was enacted by the body responsible for promulgating and defending Catholic doctrine, The Independent reported on Wednesday, August 2.

"Consequently the church teaches, in the light of the Gospel, that the death penalty is inadmissible because it is an attack on the inviolability and dignity of the person, and she (Catholic church) works with determination for its abolition worldwide," said the church.

The Catholic church had initially allowed the death penalty in extreme cases for centuries when it was considered the only possible way of effectively defending human lives against an unjust aggressor.

The changes by the Pope comes at a time when human rights group Amnesty International (AI) is battling Kamande’s death sentence to be commuted to life imprisonment.

The changes by the Pope comes at a time when human rights group Amnesty International is battling Kamande’s death sentence to be commuted to life imprisonment.

Executive Director Irungu Houghton said in a statement there was no credible evidence the death penalty detered crime any better than other lawful punishments.

He further asked the court to call for Kamande’s rehabilitation instead.

The human rights group is not alone in the fight as a taskforce on the review of the mandatory death sentence is seeking the substitution of the penalty with life imprisonment with eligibility for parole.

According to Anne Okutoyi, a member of the task force representing the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights, the new proposal which is among a raft of measures being fronted by the taskforce is in line with a Supreme Court ruling issued in December 2017.

The Supreme Court found the death sentence to be unconstitutional to the extent of its mandatory nature.

However, Kenyan courts still hand capital punishment to those charged with murder or treason.

The rain shower for over 20 minutes before the prayer,  it continue this way till the prayer was completed,  before the heavy rain fall started.

This particular day was said to be a festival day for all the Muslims by Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) ,  which means all the Muslims have to dress neat and decent when going for this prayer.

The Angels was said to have took the record of the Muslims who were among the participants of the Jumma prayer on every Friday of the week.

Allah will be happy with those that that observe the prayer and bestow his blessing on every individual that attended the prayer 🙏 and every request made by the people will be accepted.

Kumuyi seeks support for church’s plan to check unemployment

Deeper Life Bible Church Ultra-modern headquarters,Gbagada (inset) Pastor W.F. Kumuyi

The General Superintendent, Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Folorunsho Kumuyi, has called on the government to collaborate with the church in tackling unemployment and under-employment in the country.

Kumuyi made the call yesterday at the Mini-Multi-Purpose Hall of Deeper Life Headquarters, Gbagada, Lagos where about 350 youths who are members of the Young Professionals Forum (YPF), graduated from the ministry’s skill acquisition programme.

The YPF is a non-profit and inter-denominational initiative of Kumuyi.

The general superintendent noted that Nigeria, whose population has grown to over 182 million, has over half of its citizens under 30 years of age.

According to him, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) puts unemployment rate in the quarter of 2017 at about 18.8 percent, which is regarded as the most conservative estimates as the figures could indeed be higher.

Kumuyi said the creation of YPF was borne out of his passion to help the youths discover the essence of purposeful living through diligence and hardwork, honesty and integrity which would prepare them for excellence in their chosen fields of endeavour.

“The Deeperlife Christian Ministry is wholly committed to the edification and elevation of the human essence and faculties into maximal productive use.
“The massive unemployment underemployment, loss of jobs, frustrations, delinquency and counter-culture, pornography, excessive exposure to drugs, social media, idleness, the tyranny of kidnapping and armed banditry in which you are involved present a grim scenario to every discerning and concerned mind.

“All these motivated our desire to assist the teeming, unfocused youths into self discoveries through God’s direction and leading us into also supporting them in channeling their talents and mental resources into productive use,” Kumuyi said.

According to him, the curriculum of the skills acquisition proramme spanned through urban and hydroponic farming, digital marketing, web design, mobile applications, photography and video editing. Others are event planning and interior design, pastry and mixology.

The cleric said that aside from empowering the youth for better future, skill acquisition-wise, the ministry was determined to inculcate in them the fear of God so as to properly come to terms with the divine essence for their lives and to discover the pathway in life for which they have been endowed by God.

Why I Boycotted Ramadan Fast – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday revealed how he had to boycott Ramadan fast last year due to health concerns.

Buhari, while noting the health and other benefits of fasting, said he couldn’t participate in the annual spiritual exercise in 2017 owing to his prolonged ill health that required him to stay for over 100 days in London, the United Kingdom, for medical consultations.

The president said this while receiving a delegation led by the Minister of the FCT, Mohammed Bello, who paid a courtesy call on him at the Presidential Villa today.

He equally revealed that he rejected every counsel to not participate in this year’s Ramadan fast on health grounds.

“I am very grateful to the ministers and church leadership that came to say happy Eid-Filtri to those of us that have been fasting,” Buhari said to the delegation.

“A lot of people asked me if on health grounds I can default, I refused because I know the value in fasting. I cannot miss it once I can do it.

“Last year, I didn’t because I was on health vacation. But this year, I have done it and I thank God because it has helped me to be much more healthier, to give me the time that I need to attend to national issues.

“Please in your constituencies, emphasise what I said about 30 years ago. We don’t have another country except Nigeria.

“We may as well remain here and salvage it together, there is nothing else we can do.

“Even those that had gone out are now trying to come back because they are not wanted out there.

“I wished that all the resources they had then, they had deployed it here. It would have been much better.

“So, thank you very much and please try to persuade your constituencies to work much harder away from individualism and sectionalism.”

12 stunning photos that show how Muslims around the world dress up for Eid-el-Fitr

As the holy month of Ramadan approaches its end, Muslims around the world have started preparing for their yearly celebrations of Eid-el-Fitr. Eid-el-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan and the beginning of the new moon sighting of Shawaal.

Many Muslims like to celebrate by dressing up and wearing their best clothes on Eid day and going out to meet friends and relatives looking and smelling good.

In fact, it is established that wearing one’s best cloth on the Eid day is in line with the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) who was known to have worn his best cloak on Eid.

However, every culture has its own style and sense of dressing which also may vary from person to person according to their preferences.

Let us have a look at how Muslims from different parts of the world dress up on Eid day.

Eid-el-fitri 2018

Eid-El-Fitri

As Nigerians join the rest of humanity to celebrate the Muslim Eid-el-fitri marking the end of this year’s Ramadan fasting, it is assumed that the faithful have utilised the period of self-sacrifice and self-denial to renew their minds as well as attune themselves to the worship of their Creator.

It is also assumed that the period has been used by all Nigerians to seek the grace to commit themselves to a life of service to their country and to fellow human beings.

This year’s fasting period may be over but the teachings therefrom should remain constant in the lives of all.

Steadfastness, a prayerful life and humility as the Holy Book teaches must be for everyday living, not the fasting period alone.

Indeed, the cardinal message is that although Eid-el-fitri signifies the end of Ramadan, the doctrines of moderation, piety, regular supplication to Allah, and unconditional love go beyond the Ramadan, beyond Islam and must be obeyed by all.

In truth, the belief is that no month is holier than the Ramadan nor is any month more attractive of God’s forgiveness and mercy. Islam also emphasises that Allah is ready to answer prayers at all times, if these are offered in the same circumstances guiding the Ramadan.

All Nigerians are therefore enjoined to keep these lessons uppermost in their heart as they celebrate the Eid.

A life of grace, humility, self-sacrifice, philanthropy, especially offering aid to the less privileged in the society and love for one another, are the paths to building a strong, peaceful and prosperous country. These constitute the fundamentals of making a nation achieve its manifest destiny.

In the joy of this year’s celebration, the faithful and indeed each Nigerian should spare a thought for the entire country and how to confront its challenges of poverty and underdevelopment.

All should remember that although the country is renowned as one of the most endowed on earth, in terms of natural and human resources, it is ironically home to some of the poorest in the world.

A few Nigerians are among the richest in the world while a majority of their compatriots live in abject poverty.

While some of the really wealthy may have earned it, many have attained their status at the expense of the people.

While Islam holds that each man shall account for his deeds in the hereafter, all, especially those in positions of authority and affluence, must begin the processes of changing their character and activities with a view to becoming more attuned to the teachings of Islam.

It is a lesson of Ramadan and Eid-el-fitri that happiness for the supposedly happy can only be hollow when he is surrounded by a multitude of hungry and unhappy people.

Islam teaches that the wealth bestowed on any person is for the purpose not of enjoying life to the fullest by one, but to raise several other persons from their state of hopelessness and helplessness.

This year’s Eid celebration must of necessity be moderate given the fact that the nation’s economy remains in dire straits and living standard for most has fallen with poor income, very low value of the naira and rising costs.

The Muhammadu Buhari government is still striving to fulfill Nigerians’ high expectations even as it grapples, three years after.

The government needs prayers and help.

The Boko Haram insurgency is being gradually defeated by the nation’s patriotic soldiers but hundreds of thousands of innocent citizens remain abducted or dislocated from their families.

Indeed, the whole of Nigeria is still nursing the wounds inflicted on the country’s soul by a group whose acts and beliefs are not reconcilable with the nature of Islam as a religion of peace and tolerance.

Herdsmen also continue to kill and maim Nigerians in their thousands while the government appears clueless on what to do.

It bears repeating that Islam abhors taking of human lives or forcing people into captivity as a means of converting them.

Clearly, the principles and methods of killer herdsmen, Boko Haram and their equivalents worldwide are far from being a true reflection of Islam. They stand condemned.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s leaders must find the will to shun greed, corruption, nepotism, and other ills that have stunted the country’s growth as such are completely against the essence of Islam, Ramadan or the Eid-el-fitri.

For those who may have been caught in the vortex of these vices, there is no better time than now to repent and seek

Almighty Allah’s forgiveness.

Nigeria’s purpose and destiny as a great country can and must be achieved.

All Nigerians should seize the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-fitri to pray for their country and commit themselves whole-heartedly to the work of rebuilding it.

Whitney Houston’s Bible up for $95,000

Whitney Houston

The Bible reportedly used by late American singer, Whitney Houston, has been put up for sale at $95,000.

According to TMZ, Houston left the Bible behind when she moved out of the Newport Beach luxury home she had rented and her former landlord has now put up the Bible for sale.

Whitney rented the home from 2009-2011. The owner says he found the Bible in a box, along with some clothes and CDs by the trash after she’d moved out.

He says he had signed a non-disclosure agreement and contacted Houston’s agent about the left-behind items, but was told he could keep them.

The Bible, which is being sold through Moments in Time, has Whitney’s handwriting all over it.

There are pages documenting life events. For instance, under marriage, Whitney scribbled her name and Robert B. Brown and the date July 18, 1992, which matches up.

Under births, it lists Bobbi K. Kristina and her birthday, March 4, 1993.

The owner sold the home in 2012, and says he threw out all the other stuff Houston left behind except the Bible because he thought it was “interesting.”

10 things Muslims should avoid during Ramadan

Muslims praying. [Photo credit: Daily Trust]

Ramadan, the ninth month of Islam, is here and Muslims across the globe are enjoined to adhere to the rules that guide fasting in the glorious month.

Scholars have opined that there are some acts that must be avoided in the holy month. While Islam preaches that every Muslim must abstain from these acts in their everyday life, total abstinence is more pronounced in the holy month because engaging in any of them might invalidate one’s fasting. Here are 10 things that must be avoided in the month of Ramadan:

1. Control your gaze

Purity of the mind and soul is encouraged in the holy month; hence, Muslims are advised to watch how they gaze at the opposite sex during Ramadan. Gazing at the opposite sex without caution could pollute the mind.

2. Do not smoke

Smoking is highly prohibited during Ramadan. The act is a subject of controversial debates in Islam, with some scholars suggesting that it should be avoided totally in everyday life. It is however not accepted in whatever form during fasting.

3. Avoid alcohol, wild parties

Alcoholic drinks are highly forbidden in Islam; during Ramadan, it is pointless saying that it is not accepted. But because there are Muslims – in Nigeria too – who drink alcohol, it must be stated that it is totally prohibited in the month of Ramadan.

4. Avoid excessive consumption

Fasting avails Muslims the opportunity to feel the pang of hunger and know how the needy feels. But sometimes, the urge to make up for the long hours of fasting pushes people into excessive consumption during ‘Iftar‘ (break of fast) period. Muslims should avoid this.

5. Do not be lazy/Inactive

Muslims are not expected to stay idle all day because they are fasting. Laziness is not encouraged in the holy month as fasting is no excuse to remain unproductive.

6. Avoid meaningless, non-productive engagements

As much as Islam advises Muslims to be active during Ramadan, it does not encourage involvement in baseless activities. Muslims are expected to limit their engagement with things of the world during Ramadan and engage in lots of Ibadah – acts of worship.

7. Do not hold grudges

Islam is a religion of peace and it is expected that Muslims should reconcile with people against whom they hold grudges even outside Ramadan. It is doubly so in Ramadan as doing otherwise could invalidate one’s fasting.

8. Do not ‘socialise‘ too much

The advent of the internet and the proliferation of social media have changed how people live their lives. Many Nigerians, the youth especially, spend long hours on the internet engaging in frivolous conversations. Ramadan should be a time for sober reflection and lots of Ibadah.

9. Avoid excessive sleep

While it is not prohibited to sleep in the holy month, Muslims are enjoined to spend a significant part of the month observing prayers and reciting the Quran – day and night.

10. Avoid adult talks and lewd conversations

Adult talks and lewd conversations are commonplace today, especially on the internet. A Muslim is expected to be decorous in the Holy month (and beyond) by avoiding lewd, immoral talks or acts.

Buhari participates in Ramadan Tafsir

Buhari participating in the Ramadan Tafsir

President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday joined the Muslim faithful all over the world who thronged neighbourhood mosques for the Ramadan Tafsir – the translation and explanation of the Holy Qu’ran.

At the Mosque in the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, the Chief Imam, Abdulwaheed Abubakar opened the exercise with gratitude to Allah for freeing the President of the ailment that kept him away from the country throughout this period last year.

He wished President Buhari full health and more energy to discharge the requirements of his office.

The Chief Imam thanked Nigerians for their prayers for the President and the nation, urging them to submit to the will of their creator.

Abdulwaheed also prayed to Allah for peaceful elections in the coming year.

Want to love your partner better in the holy month? This is what you should do

Your marriage can benefit greatly from this one month, as the bond will become stronger if you live by the rules below.

A happy muslim couple  (LoveWeddings)

Ramadan is upon us again, the blessed month considered by Muslims as a great opportunity to get closer to Allah and strengthen your faith. But your faith is not the only thing that can get stronger in this season, you relationship can, too!

Your relationship/marriage can benefit greatly from this one month, as the intimacy and bond will become ever stronger if you live by the rules below:

1. Pray together

Take every opportunity you get to pray together. In this one month, the 5 pillars of prayer will be upheld more steadfastly than ever and who’s better to share this period with than your boo?

This affords you the opportunity to not just spend time together, but to also stand together in prayer.

And sincerely, in a period as this [and even beyond], this is really good for your relationship.

You can love better and grow stronger in your marriage and relationship during Ramadan.  (Tori)

2. Less social media

The way social media affects relationshipsnegatively has been mentioned again and again, and it cannot be overemphasized that time spent with y our boo is actually more valuable than time  spent poring over social media pages that don’t mean much in the long run.

So during Ramadan, learn to withdraw a little from TV and social media and instead spend the extra time you’ll create with your boo having real conversations and spending quality time together that may have been impossible by the over-activity of the previous months.

3. Iftar dates

There’s actually no reason not to be romantic with your spouse during Ramadan!

One way to do this is to spice up your evenings with occasional dates in the one month that the fast will last for.

Whatever you do, always strive to selflessly make the best of your relationship in all seasons and at all times.

Islamic Movement faults Ambassador Campbell on Boko Haram link

•Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky

The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (Shiites) has dismissed as unfounded the similarity drawn between it and the dreaded Boko Haram group by a former American Ambassador to Nigeria, John Campbellsaying “we and Boko Haram are clearly poles apart.”

A statement issued on Sunday by the Media Forum of the group signed by the President, Ibrahim Musa said “The attention of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria has been drawn to a piece titled, “Nigeria’s Treatment of Shia Minority Recalls That of Boko Haram,” written by a former American Ambassador to Nigeria, John Campbell, posted on the website of the American think-tank organisation, the Council on Foreign Relations, which gained wide coverage in Nigeria’s media.

“The former Ambassador drew similarities between the dreaded Boko Haram and the Islamic Movement, under the able leadership of our illegally detained Leader, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky. The need to issue this press statement becomes imperative in view of the deliberate blackmail, witch-hunt and mischief inherently contained in the write-up,” the statement said.

It noted “His assertion that ‘advocacy of violence aside, there are striking ideological similarities between IMN and Boko Haram, at least for outside observers’ is most unfortunate. His claim that ‘both see the secular state as evil, both want an Islamic state based on Islamic law, and both want the end to Western influence, including in education’, is grossly misleading. Equally mischievous was his summation that, ‘both also seek the end of northern Nigeria’s traditional political and religious elite.’ For IMN, the model appears to be the aspirations of the post-revolutionary Iranian Islamic state. Boko Haram’s vision appears more nebulous and less developed, but both try to function as a state-within-state,” the statement declared.

“For the records, we and Boko Haram are clearly poles apart. As Sheikh Zakzaky himself repeatedly pointed out, Boko Haram is the creation of the oil-hungry West; a claim Ambassador Campbell erroneously claimed is implausible. However, it is on record that the equally dreaded ISIS organisation wreaking havoc in the Middle East, to which Boko Haram gives its allegiance, is the creation of the US.

“Hence to claim that Boko Haram wants, “an Islamic state based on Islamic law,” and the end to Western influence, including in education and also seek the end of northern Nigeria’s traditional political and religious elite, is superfluous, to say the least. It is however clear to all that Islam as a state religion was not established by the Holy Prophet Muhammad through terroristic activities to which all these western created groups are known today.

“Boko Haram simply sprang up, hitherto unknown to anybody as to its teachings, schools and media and started terrorising people. On the contrary, the Islamic Movement is a mass movement and its leader, Sheikh Zakzaky has been calling for inter and intra-faith unity, tolerance and peace for decades. He is reputed to have sheltered and protected Christians in Gyallesu, Zaria during post-2011 election violence. He always adds his voice for the oppressed irrespective of their religion or region or any other geographical or social divisions whatsoever,” the group declared.

“We, therefore, view any attempt to compare the Islamic Movement, which has been in existence for the past four decades, with Boko Haram as a subtle but malicious attempt to tarnish our image and pave way for further violent suppression against us.

“The former Ambassador should have stated the whole truth. The naked truth is that the federal government decided to suppress the Islamic Movement on the behest of Saudi Arabia, an agent and ally of the West, killing over a thousand civilian souls and destroying properties worth billions of Naira in its wreak.

“The Islamic Movement is rightly demanding for justice to the victims of this state-sponsored terrorism, starting with the unconditional release of Sheikh Zakzaky, his wife and all the others under detention since the Zaria pogrom of December 2015.

“On these, we will not blink, nor falter. The general public and the international community should particularly note that we have been unduly oppressed by this Buhari regime like none before it, and must be made to take responsibility for its actions. It is now 882 days that our leader has been languishing in detention despite a valid court order to free him, and everybody knows justice delayed is justice denied,” the statement said.

Nigerian Muslims, others start Ramadan Thursday

Crescent moon

Nigerian Muslims will join their counterparts across the world to commence the Ramadan fast on Thursday.

This was confirmed by the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs which announced the sighting of the crescent moon marking the start of the Islamic month.

PREMIUM TIMES earlier reported how Saudi Arabia had announced that the Ramadan should commence on Thursday.

During Ramadan, Muslims are expected to fast from dawn to sunset, abstaining from food and water.

Already, President Muhammadu Buhari has sent his greetings and best wishes to Muslims in Nigeria and across the world as they commence the 30-day Ramadan fast.

In his message to the nation on the beginning of the Ramadan, the president says fasting is not just merely meant to stay hungry or thirsty, but an opportunity to strive for inner purification and self-accountability.

“It is meant to inculcate righteousness and discipline,” he said.

He enjoined fasting Muslims to increase their love for humanity, acts of charity, kindness, generosity and gratitude. He said the Holy Prophet Muhammad used to spend very generously on the poor and the needy during this period, and urged Muslims in the country and all over the world to copy the good example.

He called on Muslims and all Nigerians to always remember men and women who are less fortunate than themselves and to help the government in confronting the challenges facing the nation.

The president prays Allah to grant all Muslims the strength to successfully complete the fasting period.
