Manchester City's protracted move for Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez will be completed this week after the winger reportedly did not travel with his club to its preseason training camp in France.
The Foxes sanctioned Mahrez's decision to stay in England while they flew out over the weekend, according to BBC Sport's Simon Stone.
That concession is surely indicative of the fact Leicester and manager Claude Puel have finally relinquished any remaining hope of keeping the Algerian, who was named the PFA Player of the Year when Leicester won the Premier League in 2015-16.
The Telegraph's John Percy reports the long-awaited deal will now be signed before next weekend, completing a move worth £60 million.
If the deal is indeed completed for that price, Mahrez would become the most expensive African footballer of all time, eclipsing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's £56.1-million move to Arsenal in January.
