“President Kenyatta’s directive on the Kibarani dumpsite and the Mombasa Regeneration project is in line with his Big 4 Agenda which seeks to improve the lives of Kenyans,” said State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena on Monday, July 30.

Earlier on TUKO.co.ke reported members of the National Assembly Environment Committee had launched investigations into the circumstances under which two private companies were allocated part of the Indian Ocean in Mombasa.

The committee summoned the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) and National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) to explain how Multiple Inland Container Depot and Shehena Enterprises in Nyali Bridge were allowed to reclaim part of the ocean.

The parliamentary committee members on Sunday, July 29, visited sections of Kibarani in Mombasa and questioned why the Kibarani dumpsite project had not been stopped as directed by the Water Resource Management (WARMA).

However, the manager of Multiple Inland Container Depot in their defence said they had all the legal requirements before they settled on the land.
