The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has vowed to take disciplinary action against Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori and his Malindi counterpart Aisha Jumwa over alleged violation of party regulations.

ODM chairman John Mbadi has accused the two legislators of making “unsubstantiated claims and wild allegations which are tantamount to termination of their membership from ODM.”

Ms. Jumwa is allegedly in trouble with her party for uttering the following words on July 15, 2018: “People should not attack me, they should attack Raila Odinga who forgot all the efforts that the opposition had in store for Kenya and supported the Jubilee administration.”

“In the same meeting you are quoted to have said, ‘I have no contract with ODM’ These pronouncements are tantamount to declaration of termination of or intention to terminate your membership of the party,” reads part of a-show-cause letter addressed to Ms. Jumwa by the ODM Chairman.

The Malindi MP was speaking at a public event where she delivered a bus to Malindi football clubs at Coast Boys football grounds.

On his part, Mr. Dori is accused of declaring that “the coastal people have been betrayed by Raila Odinga and ODM and should look elsewhere to realise some development.”

“These pronouncements are tantamount to declaration of termination of or intention to terminate your membership of the ODM party,” reads the show cause letter.

The two legislators, who have been on the spot over their new-found political dalliance with Deputy President William Ruto, are also accused of skipping the ODM parliamentary group meetings held in March and July this year.

The party gave the two seven days to show cause why disciplinary action should not be taken against them.

“Please take notice of the fact that should you not respond within the indicated timeframe, the Party will without further recourse to you proceed to initiate a discliplinary process,” said Mr. Mbadi.

Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala has cancelled an interview on NTV.

In a statement seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the Tourism Ministry stated that the CS would not be available for the interview.

"Unfortunately, CS @tunajibu will not make it for the interview due to other urgent and pressing official matters that he has to attend to," read the tweet.

Balala was scheduled to appear for an interview during the 7 PM news hours with anchor Jane Ngoiri.

Earlier in the day, Balala apologised for his go-to-hell rant over rhino deaths.

Appearing before a parliamentary committee on Tuesday, the Cabinet Secretary stated that he regretted dragging President Uhuru Kenyatta's name into his emotional remarks.

“I regret I did that outburst, it was out of pain that I am being let down by my system. I do regret dragging the president’s name,” he stated during the hearing.

His apology comes a day after he lashed out at a section of Kenyans calling for his resignation over the death of 10 rhinos at Tsavo East National Park.

Speaking during a press conference in Mombasa, Balala affirmed that he would not resign as the only person who had the power to remove him from office was the President.

"Those calling for my resignations are just sideshows. I don't want to talk about rhinos now but I want to tell them to go to hell. Only Uhuru has the authority of appointing and firing me. I can only tell them [sic] they can go to hell.

"No one is going to intimidate me as the president who appointed me knows I have the capacity to run the Ministry," he asserted.

Kibe retains Gatundu North seat as Konchella loses in Kilgoris

The Court of Appeal on Tuesday has reversed a decision by the High court nullifying the election of Wanjiku Kibe as Gatundu North MP.

Former MP Kungu Waibara had filed the petition.

Judges Roselyn Nambuye, Gatembu Kairu, and Agnes Murgor said the election court misdirected itself and determined issues that were not pleaded by the petitioner.

The three judges ruled that the anomalies found in the election results were administrative errors, which were not substantial to nullify the election.

They further faulted Justice Joel Ngugi, who heard the case at the Kiambu High court, for conducting an audit of the election materials yet no party had asked for it.

The judge used the report on the audit to nullify the election.

However, the Court of Appeal said the petitioner had not pleaded for the audit to be done.

It was their view that the election court went on a fishing expedition because Waibara had not specified the polling stations where results were disputed.

Waibara says he will move to the Supreme Court.

In another court, the election of Gideon Konchella as Kilgoris MP has been nullified. The petition was filed by former minister Julius Sunkuli.

A report by Daily Nation indicated, the doctor claimed his four long-sleeved shirts, four short-sleeved shirts and two vests were missing.

He immediately reported the matter at the Wajir Police Station claiming someone might have accessed his house and stole the clothes.

It was not immediately clear how the thief gained access into the house as there are armed security guards attached to the doctors.

Reports however indicate the theft might have happened during the day as the guards only arrive in the evening.

The incident comes four weeks after the Cuban doctors were deployed in all the 47 counties in the country.

The doctors are reported to be experiencing some challenges including language barrier between them and their patients.

Michael Jackson 'speaks' from BEYOND THE GRAVE to reveal final moments to psychic

DEAD superstar Michael Jackson has revealed what happened just before he died, a top psychic has claimed.

The world was plunged into mourning when the tormented pop icon died in 2009.

The millionaire megastar had been preparing for his comeback tour when he was found unresponsive in his LA home and declared dead at the age of 50.

MJ's sister, LaToya Jackson, told Piers Morgan on CNN in 2011 she believed her brother had been murdered.

Now, years on from his death, she enlisted the help of professional medium Tyler Henry, who claims to have been in contact with the Thriller icon from beyond the grave.

CLOSE: LaToya Jackson has always believed her brother was murdered

Mr Henry previously revealed who was around Jacko just before his death.

And now, Jacko has revealed what happened in his final moments, Tyler claims.

“There's a very strong emphasis on this,” Tyler told La Toya, 61, as the reading began.

“He's acknowledging that he should not have been left alone at a time when he was left alone.

“And that's coming in, and that's what he's putting a lot of emphasis on.

CLOSURE: La Toya wanted answers about her brother's death

"The person who should have been there to monitor, wasn't monitoring.

"And it's like, ‘I trusted you to be there, I trusted the role that you were supposed to have to help me, and you left. It's like, of all times, you should be right here’.”

“Did something happen while he was abandoned?” La Toya asked.

“It's an interesting thing about this, because I feel like when he was abandoned, that would have been an ideal time for him to try to reach 911, to try to call for help, to try to get help,” he explained.

"At this time, he realised something was wrong while he was alone, and that's when he was conscious and realising something's wrong here.  But I just don't feel like he had someone to say, ‘Hey, I'm having a medical emergency, something's happening."'

“Right, no one was there to say that,” La Toya agreed.

TRAGIC: MJ was due to perform 50 dates in London before his death

“After I realise, there's something wrong in here,” Tyler says as he gestures towards his chest, “There's this feeling oh, ‘Oh this medication kicks in.’ I suddenly become affected by this medicine.

It's kind of like this feeling of, ‘Oh my God, what do I do? I don't want to waste time, like clearly something's happening.’ And this happens very fast.”

La Toya described how painful it was for her to hear Tyler's description.

She said: “I think what hurts the most is not only was there a need for someone to be there for him, but there was a trusted person, a person that he trust, a person that was in that inner circle, and that person wasn't there. And just to hear that, it tears you apart.  I just wanted to cry.”

Tyler admitted: “I don't know much about that specific case as far as his testimony or anything like that, but do you know if his story changed? Did he say one thing and then say something different?”

“Yes stories change. Stories change all the time,” she said.

“To your knowledge, you do know that this person did leave?” Tyler asked.

“Yeah, he did admit that at one point,” La Toya said.

“That's validation that is indeed a true fact,” Tyler replied. 'That regardless of how much his story changes, that part is true, he did actually leave.”

Paris Jackson's hottest pictures

“And no one else came in during that time or prior to that time that the other person wasn't aware of?” La Toya asked.

“I don't see anyone coming into his room while he was alone,” Tyler replied.

Michael’s personal doctor, Conrad Murray, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter over his death, which was deemed to be a homicide, the Los Angeles County Coroner ruled.

Mr Henry, the star of Hollywood Medium With Tyler Henry, said speaking to MJ was “one of the most surprising, bizarre, surreal experiences in my life”.

The world was plunged into mourning when the tormented pop icon died in 2009.

Keroche Breweries apparent heiress Anerlisa Muigai has courted controversy after accusing women of being bitter about her transformation and success.

According to the NERO founder, Kenyan women have been ‘salty’ ever since she lost over 60 kgs from 124kgs when she began her weight loss journey two years ago. In addition to her remarkable transformation, Anerlisa reckons women are bitter because of her successful water bottling business and the fact that she is always happy.

“I am very aware that most women have grown this bitter side about me. It has grown since I transformed my body, since having a successful business and also the fact that I am always happy no matter what…makes them sad,” said Ms Muigai.

The 30-year-old businesswoman appeared to be responding to some negative comments that were made about her outfit during a night out with friends at Kiza Lounge.

Anerlisa had stepped out in a black see-through outfit that was deemed indecent by a section of Kenyans online.

But Anerlisa showed thick skin as she wondered why women don’t support each other.

“Why is it that women we don’t support other women doing good? ”

She added: “I am very strong about empowering women and I believe in positive energy. I also decided to never respond to any negativity said about me, I will always rise above that.”

‘Mum is cheating with our driver yet he has also slept with me’ cries city girl

Would you report your mum if you found her cheating? That is the dilemma a young woman is fighting with after finding her mum in bed with their driver.

With no shame at all the driver was show casing his bedroom skills in the parking lot despite knowing too well that he has also slept with the daughter without the mothers knowledge.

She wrote

“My mum is cheating on my dad with our driver. I caught them last night inside my dad’s car making out. I went out to make Call because the network was so bad and I could not hear my boyfriend, so I quickly rushed out, I was not still hearing him so out of frustration I cut off the call. For me to go inside I heard noise, so I traced it to the car , put off my phone light and getting to the car it was my shameless mum and our driver . I am so bitter because this same driver has slept with me by mistake but we never dated . It just happened and he took advantage of me

I can’t believe my mum is acting like a kid, mine is better that I am a small girl of 22 but my mum is shameless. Under my daddy’s roof. I want to tell my dad and to think my mum is not even begging me, she was still forming elder. She does not know that I have lost respect for her after sitting on same dick I have sat on . That driver is a gigolo. How do I get him sacked from our house ? Should I accuse him of rape? So that my dad will fire him , or I should just tell my dad what I saw ? My mum was even on top of him , very irritating view .”

World War 3: Iran threatens to send TERRORISTS to USA as it warns ALL OUT WAR is imminent

A SENIOR Iranian military commander has warned Iran is prepared launch a war and wage a campaign of terror against the United States as he hit back after incendiary tweets posted by US President Donald Trump earlier in the week.

And Major-General Qassem Soleimani has claimed that if the US starts a war, “Iran will finish it”.

Mr Soleimani, who heads up the Quds Force of Iran's powerful Revolutionary Guards Corps, was reported by various Iranian news agencies as having made his comments during a speech in the city of Hamedan.

He said: "As a soldier, it is my duty to respond to Trump's threats. If he wants to use the language of threat, he should talk to me, not to president Hassan Rouhani.

"What could you have done against Iran in the past 20 years that you haven’t done already? At the end, the victory belonged to the Iranian nation.

"You know that this war will destroy all that you possess. You will start this war but we will be the ones to impose its end. Therefore you have to be careful about insulting the ian people and the president of our Republic."

And in an apparent reference to acts of terror, he added: "You know our power in the region and our capabilities in asymmetric war. We will act and we will work."

"You know that this war will destroy all that you possess. You will start this war but we will be the ones to impose its end.

"Therefore you have to be careful about insulting the Iran people and the president of our Republic.

US President Donald Trump hit out at Iran earlier this week (Image: GETTY)

"Trump should know that we are nation of martyrdom and that we await him."

He also said that the Red Sea was not secure while US troops were deployed in the area.

Saudi Arabia said on Thursday it was temporarily halting all oil shipments through the strategic Red Sea shipping lane of Bab al-Mandeb after an attack on two oil tankers by Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthi movement.

Yemen, where a US-backed, Saudi-led coalition has been battling the Houthis for three years, lies beside the southern mouth of the Red Sea, one of the most important trade routes in the world for oil tankers.

The state-run Mehr News Agency also quoted him as saying: "Ask your then commander about whom he sent to me to beg for coverage for the American troops against the attacks of Iraq’s Mujahideen Army until they could leave the country.

"On what background are you exactly basing your threats?”

“There is no need for Iran’s Armed Forces to get involved. I myself and the IRGC’s Quds Force are enough to face you as an adversary.”

And in a further cryptic threat, he added: “Mr Gambler Trump! I’m telling you that we are close to you exactly where you wouldn’t think that we are.”

Mr Trump's fiery tweet was prompted by a speech delivered by Mr Rouhani at the weekend, during which he warned the US "not the pull the tiger's tail" and said a confict between the two nations would be "the mother of all wars".

In turn, Mr Rouhani may have been irked by US secretary of state Mike Pompeo's characterisation of his regime as a "mafia" state, as well as the US's withdrawal from the JPCA nuclear agreement and reimposition of sanctions on the Islamic republic.

Iran's President Hassan Rouhani has refused to respond to the comments (Image: GETTY)

Mr Pompeo has also encouraged dissenters within Iran, possibly in the hope of encouraging further demonstrations – SOAS professor Arshin Adib-Moghaddam yesterday told Express.co.uk this would backfire by encouraging Iranians to get behind their leadership.

In a statement read in English after a cabinet meeting yesterday, Mr Rouhani said it was not worth responding directly to Mr Trump's comments.

He added: "The Iranian nation's steadfastness, unity, integrity and disregarding of their threats and plots and choosing the path of resisting and attempting to foil the enemies' plots are the most powerful response to the cheap remarks of US rulers."

Perhaps surprisingly, Mr Trump's opening tweet of the day did not address the situation, but rather levelled criticism at Twitter for something completely unrelated.

He posted: "Twitter “SHADOW BANNING” prominent Republicans. Not good. We will look into this discriminatory and illegal practice at once! Many complaints."

The Frenchman wants out of Old Trafford this summer but United are reluctant to sell him to a Premier League rival.

PSG are admirers and French outlet Paris United suggest United approached them last week to discuss a deal.

Rojo set for exit

Everton are leading the race to sign Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo.

The central defender has been told he can leave United, as long as a buying club meets their £30million valuation.

Rojo has not joined United on their US tour, despite Argentina having exited the World Cup exactly a month ago – giving him more than the requisite three-week post-tournament break.

Although Rojo signed a new deal with United until 2021 – with the option of an extra year – in March, that was done chiefly to protect his market value.

The Union of Kenya Civil Servants wants government to provide chiefs with firearms, saying they are working under risky and insecure conditions due to the high number of guns in the hands of unauthorised persons.

The union’s Nyeri region secretary Daniel Ndung’u said the chiefs and their assistants should be issued with licences to carry guns to protect themselves.

He spoke while mourning death of a Nyeri chief killed in cold blood by unknown gunmen who shot him three times on the chest.

KILLED

Chief Peter Nyuguto Kimiti of Kamakwa Location was killed at his home in Gitathi-ini village upon return from his office in Kamakwa township.

He had just parked his motorcycle in his compound and proceeded to his farm to check on workers attending to his coffee trees, his widow Ann Muthoni said.

“The drivers of illegal businesses and cartels are fighting back. They are killing and harming chiefs who are working with the police. It is time the government considers training and arming the chiefs to protect themselves,” said Mr Ndung’u.

Mr Ndung'u blamed Mr Kimiti’s death on the war against rising crime and illicit brews in the village, saying the administrator was a vocal campaigner against the two vices.

INVESTIGATIONS

Nyeri Central OCPD Muide Kioko said investigations into the murder have started with a view to bringing the culprits to book.

The killers did not steal anything from the chief or his family, Mr Muide said.

Mr Kimiti is the second chief to be shot dead at his home in Nyeri County.

Two years ago, Chief Martin Githinji of Ichuga location in Kieni East was killed by unknown gunmen at his home one evening.

Mr Githinji was shot several times in the neck and stomach and died on the spot.

He had just driven into his compound at Gwa Kania village when the assailants shot him.

However, the 29-year-old prefers Champions League Giants Real Madrid as his destination after Cristiano Ronaldo left for Juventus but, Bayern are reluctant to let their talisman leave until they get his replacement.

According to UK Sports Outlet Metro, Lewandowski is not interested in a move to Old Trafford claiming that it is not an attractive place to live in. He views Paris as an alternative if he doesn’t secure a move to the Bernabeu.

Lewandowski’s contract at Bayern expires in 2021 but his manager Niko Kovac admits that the former Borussia Dortmund is considering a move away.

‘There’s nothing new with Robert, it’s clear that he will not leave this club because we have a top striker and we certainly do not want to relinquish him or give him away,’ Niko told Sky Sport Germany.

‘We want to achieve a lot with him. He is a great footballer, who has achieved a lot in the Bundesliga, scored many goals and now in the new season certainly will score many goals.

‘It’s true that Robert toys with going elsewhere. Only one thing he likes, the other is what we like to do.

‘Robert has a contract, I do not know how long, and he will certainly stay as long as possible here.’

Unhappy Jubilee MP reveals what he will do if Uhuru forms unity government

Bahati MP Kimani Nginjiri. [Photo/Nation]

Bahati Member of Parliament Kimani Ngunjiri has been the first leader to oppose the anticipated formation of a unity government.

This follows claims that President Uhuru Kenyatta could be considering reshuffling his cabinet to include ministers proposed by the opposition, in line with the Building Bridges Initiative.

Speaking on Radio Jambo Monday evening, Ngunjiri said that he will have no option but to accept the new formation, terming it merely an attempt to appease the Orange party chief Raila Odinga-led side.

‘’I will have no option but to accept the changes as he has the ultimate decision over his government,’’ he said.

He faulted the move, accusing the head of state of leaving his party members in the dak on the same.

The vocal lawmaker accused both the President and Odinga of selfishness, noting that the plan is solely aimed at their political satisfaction and not the betterment of the republic.

‘’He never involved us in the plan, making it a selfish arrangement,’’ he added.

This follows reports that Uhuru and Raila secretly met at the Coast last week to discuss the new development.

If implemented, the reshuffle will see names proposed by Odinga, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi make it to the government.

Jose Mourinho drops huge transfer news ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League start

Jose Mourinho wants two more signings before the transfer deadline - but is only confident of getting one.

The Red Devils boss is targeting Leicester's Harry Maguire, as well as Inter Milan's Ivan Perisic and Chelsea's Willian.

But Mourinho fears he will only be able to bring in one further signing before the transfer window closes until next January.

"I'm confident I will get one, but I think two I'm not going to get, which is not a drama," said Mourinho.

"In every pre-season it happens the same with every club, which is the manager wants more.

"It’s our nature, you always want more for your team, but then club decisions are different and normally you don’t get what you want which happened during all my career, so if I get one player until the end of the market, that’s fine."

Asked if he will know his best starting line-up, even if he is only able to bring one more new face in, Mourinho, speaking to Be:In Sport, said: "More or less, I know. It’s not going to be very different.

"We basically have the same players.

"The players we have bought one is a goalkeeper cover, one is a 19-year-old kid, so in fact we have one new player which is Fred, so of course our team is not going to be very different."

Mourinho also says the new Premier League season should start a week later - in line with the rest of Europe.

Manchester United kick-off the new Premier League campaign on Friday August 10 with a home fixture against Leicester at Old Trafford.

But Mourinho, who has bemoaned the lack of established players he has on United's US tour, says that is too soon after the World Cup and the start should be a week later.

"I agree that when the season starts the transfer window closes," said Mourinho.

"I'm not a big fan of one player starting the season with one club and then a couple of weeks later the window is open, he moves to another club and he plays against his former club - I really don’t like that.

"I agree totally with the window closing at the same time as the Premier League starts. What I don’t agree with is that the Premier League starts now.

"You look at other countries with lots of players in the World Cup they start later - Spain and Italy starts later. The Premier League could and should do that."

Willian has been heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in recent months with Barcelona and Manchester United said to be interested in his signature.

The Brazilian who was frustrated under former boss Antonio Conte at Chelsea was believed to have agreed to join the La Liga champions this summer.

Jose Mourinho on the other hand, was hoping to re-unite with his former player but United’s board were reluctant to give him funds.

However, the 29-year-old has come out from silence and has insisted that he is happy at Chelsea and is not thinking of leaving anytime soon.

‘I’m back to England,’ Willian told Brazilian TV show Esporte Espetacular.

Chelsea appointed Maurizio Sarri to replace Antonio Conte and Willian will be looking forward to working with the former Napoli boss after a frustrating season under Antonio Conte.

North Korea developing new missiles: report

Just weeks after a high-stakes summit between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Pyongyang appears to be developing at least one or two liquid-fueled intercontinental ballistic missiles, The Washington Post reported. [AFP]

US intelligence agencies have found that North Korea is building new missiles, based on satellite photographs taken in recent weeks and other new evidence, The Washington Post reported Monday.

Just weeks after a high-stakes summit between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Pyongyang appears to be developing at least one or two liquid-fueled intercontinental ballistic missiles, the Post said, citing officials familiar with the intelligence.

The factory outside Pyongyang in Sanumdong where the work is underway produced the North's first ICBMs capable of reaching the United States.

Following the Singapore summit in June, Trump had declared that Pyongyang was "no longer a Nuclear Threat," and touted his own diplomatic achievements.

But Kim did not publicly promise to end work at the country's nuclear and missile facilities, instead speaking of eventual denuclearization.

The reported new missile construction follows Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's testimony last week in which he told senators Pyongyang continues to make nuclear fissile material, without indicating whether the hermit state was building new missiles.

Imagery from the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency suggests ongoing work on at least one Hwasong-15 ICBM at the Sanumdong plant, the Post said.

"We see them going to work, just as before," a US official told the newspaper.

But at the Sohae Satellite Launching Station on North Korea's west coast, workers can be seen dismantling an engine test stand, in line with a promise made to Trump at the summit, though the move is seen as more symbolic since the facility can easily be rebuilt.

An image taken on July 7 shows a bright-red covered trailer in a loading area that appears to be identical to those vehicles the North has previously used to transport ICBMs.

"Come and get me," boy pleaded before California wildfire death

A young boy pleaded for rescue before he died along with two others in a California wildfire, an anguished relative recounted Monday, while other shaken survivors told of their flight from a "tornado" of fire.

Thousands of firefighters in California made some progress against several large-scale blazes that have turned around 200,000 acres (80,940 hectares) into an ashen wasteland, destroyed expensive homes, and killed eight fire personnel and civilians in the most populous US state.

The worst blaze, northern California's Carr Fire, has killed six people since Thursday, including a 70-year-old woman and her two great-grandchildren, aged four and five. They perished when flames swallowed their home in Redding.

Local media identified the victims as Melody Bledsoe and the children, Emily Roberts and James Roberts, nicknamed "Junior."

"I talked to Junior on the phone 'til he died," Melody's husband Ed Bledsoe told CNN, recounting the last words of the boy, his sister, and Bledsoe's wife.

"He said 'Come and get me, the fire's comin' in the back door. Come on, Grandpa,'" Bledsoe said, his voice choking.

But he couldn't get there in time to save them.

"I've been a lifelong resident of this community, and I've never seen a fire with such destruction here in this area ever before," Shasta County Supervisor Leonard Moty said of the Carr Fire.

Alyce Macken said she had only minutes to flee with her husband Ted from the flames sweeping closer to her home in Redding. A sheriff's officer pounded on the door and gave them 15 minutes to leave, Macken told AFP.

"We were out in 10 minutes. I was shaking, it just went by really fast," the retiree said.

Macken said she met other panic-stricken neighbors at a nearby shopping center -- and watched from afar as her home went up in flames.

"It was almost like a tornado with fire in it and it came over the hill and it wiped out our house, it wiped out our next door neighbor's home," she said.

About 38,000 people had been evacuated in Shasta County due to the Carr Fire, officials said, though some evacuation orders have been lifted.

Over the weekend, US President Donald Trump approved California's request for federal help to fight the blaze and assist evacuees.

A thick smoke haze covered a large part of northern California, severely limiting visibility and contributing to breathing problems.

According to the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES), 12,000 firefighters from as far away as Florida and New Jersey have deployed across the state.

Firefighter killed by tree

A firefighter identified as Brian Hughes died on Sunday while battling the Ferguson Fire near Yosemite National Park, a major tourist attraction partially closed because of the fire.

Hughes "was struck and killed by a tree" while fighting the blaze, the Sequoia and Kings National Parks Service said.

Another firefighter died days earlier working at the fire around Yosemite.

Much of that blaze is in steep, rugged terrain with little or no access roads, officials said.

The remains of a person who ignored Carr Fire evacuation orders was found in a burned-out residence on Sunday, said Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko.

Two fire personnel were killed late last week battling the Carr blaze.

Seven other people were reported missing, Bosenko said, adding that 600 National Guard soldiers had been deployed for support duties such as roadblocks.

Police have reported cases of looting from areas emptied of residents -- but then there was also the case of the missing python.

Sandra Dodge-Streich, an evacuee forced to move four times, warned that a 14-foot long albino python she owned was lost at her latest stop in south Redding.

"She is part of our store family and Reptile Exhibit. Please don't be afraid of her -- she is lost and scared!" Dodge-Streich, the owner of Redding Reptiles, said on Facebook.

 Feeling 'optimistic'

The Carr Fire covers more than 103,000 acres (41,682 hectares) and is 23 percent contained, according to Cal Fire, the state's Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. More than 800 homes were destroyed.

"Winds will increase late tonight and into tomorrow morning. Hot and dry weather, previously unburned fuels and steep terrain will contribute to fire growth," Cal Fire said in an evening update.

Cal Fire incident manager Bret Gouvea earlier told reporters "we're feeling a lot more optimistic... as we're starting to make up some ground instead of being on the defensive."

In southern California, where thousands fled the deliberately-set Cranston Fire, Cal Fire said crews had stopped flames from reaching the town of Idyllwild and the blaze was 57 percent contained.

Last year was California's deadliest ever for wildfires, with more than 40 fatalities.

Zimbabwe's Chamisa says has done 'exceedingly well' in vote seen as very close

Zimbabwe’s main opposition leader

Zimbabwe’s main opposition leader said on Tuesday election results from more than 10,000 polling stations showed his Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) had done “exceedingly well” but several observer groups said the contest was too close to call.

Nelson Chamisa, 40, and 75-year-old President Emmerson Mnangagwa were the main contenders in Monday’s election, the first since long-ruling Robert Mugabe was removed in a bloodless coup in November.

Mnangagwa was viewed as the frontrunner, although the latest opinion polls showed a tight race. There will be a runoff on Sept. 8 if no candidate wins more than half the votes.

Several civil society groups are collating results from 10,985 polling posts in parallel with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) but are not allowed to release results before the ZEC. A source at one group said it was too early to call a winner but it was looking “very close”.

ZEC, which said on Monday voter turnout had averaged 75 percent, will announce official results within five days.

“Awaiting ZEC to perform their constitutional duty to officially announce the people’s election results and we are ready to form the next government,” said Chamisa, who is vying to become Zimbabwe’s youngest head of state, on his official Twitter feed.

Mnangagwa’s spokesman, George Charamba, and ZANU-PF spokesman Simon Khaya-Moyo did not respond to calls for comment.

In the capital Harare, an MDC stronghold, results posted outside some polling stations seen by Reuters showed Chamisa winning by wide margins but Mnangagwa was expected to claw back ground in the ruling ZANU-PF rural heartland.

Urban results tend to emerge quicker than those from rural outposts, where communication is poor.

In some rural constituencies in the east and south of the country, counting of votes was still ongoing but was expected to end early on Tuesday, some parliamentary candidates said.

The election winner faces the task of putting Zimbabwe back on track after 37 years of Mugabe rule tainted by corruption, mismanagement and diplomatic isolation that caused a crisis in a country that once had one of Africa’s most promising economies.

A credible vote is essential if Zimbabwe is to exit painful sanctions and secure the donor funding and investment needed to stem chronic cash shortages.

The run-up to Monday’s vote was largely peaceful compared to past elections under Mugabe, where the ruling party and war veterans were accused of violence against opponents.

Dozens of people were killed ahead of a runoff in 2008 between Mugabe and MDC-founder Morgan Tsvangirai, who died of cancer in February.

Mugabe emerged on the eve of the election to announce he would vote for the opposition, surprising Mnangagwa who accused him of striking a deal with Chamisa.

New Kenya Power Tariff Increases Cost of Electricity

Kenya Power Offices

On Monday, July 30, 2018 the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) put a smile on the faces of many Kenyans after announcing the removal of fixed electricity charges.

To begin with, if the announcement that the removal of the Kshs150 charge excited you, try to forget about the joy.

In what ERC deemed as a move to ensure Kenyans are charged equitably, it has emerged that you will now pay more money for the electricity you use.

"A

A keen analysis of the new energy tariff shows that for the first 10 units (kWh) of energy consumed will now cost you kshs12.

Previously, the same amount of power used was dispensed to you for only Kshs2.50.

This means that for the first ten units, you will now part with Sh120, up from the Sh25 that you have been paying.

Kenyans.co.ke has noted that for the next 40 units you will be using, Kenya Power will take Kshs15.80 per unit.

Before the new changes to be implemented tonight (From Tuesday 31, July 2018 10 pm), consumption in this category was being charged Sh2.50 per unit implying you will now need some more Sh13.30 for every unit.

This means that in this band, you will now pay Ksh632 instead of Sh100 charged previously.

Domestic consumers who use between 51-1500 kWh will also suffer the rise in their power bill. In this category, Kenya power has been charging Sh12.75 but it has since shot up to Sh15.80 per unit.

The new changes have only spared domestic consumers who take up more than 1500kWh after reducing their charges from Sh20.57 to Sh15.80 even though the power supplier intended to increase the charge to Sh25.56 per unit in the band.

Interesting to note also is the fact that it took the intervention of ERC to spare Kenyans what would have been a sharp rise in the scrapped fixed charges.

Kenya power had applied to increase the fixed charges for domestic consumption from Sh150 to Sh200 and that of small commercial power consumers was to be doubled.

The street lighting projects will also cost the country more in the new tariffs.

In the just amended tariffs, street lighting charges will go up from Sh4.36 to Sh7.50 per unit used.

The changes made show that in at least all the consumption categories, the fixed charges have been done away with while the unit charges have shot up significantly leave for that of homes that use more than 1500 kWh.
