"If you want to demolish the building, go ahead, I don't care. But If you have to demolish come and demolish it completely, don't come and demolish it partly, if you don't have money to clear it off please don't try to demolish it," said Ramesh.

Gorasia said he is ready to face government in court once the building is destroyed and seek compensation for the losses accumulated from the demolitions as he has all the legal documents for the building.

However, he offered to give government a better deal of negotiating with him to sell the building to government for public use instead of destroying it.

Gorasia's statement came hours after government through Multi-Sectoral Committee on Unsafe Structures issued a public notice to tenants of Taj Mall asking them to vacate the building by August 30, 2018.

"Upon the expiry of this notice, the illegal development will be demolished or removed from the road reserve and wayleave at the owner (s)/ developer (s) risk and cost," read the notice.

There have been demolitions in the recent past days with government aiming at reclaiming grabbed public land and riparian lands.
