...The statement made by the president of Nigeria Muhammad Buhari has now turn to discussion among the youth of Nigeria where some people support and some oppose it.
...Being the fact that the Nigeria government many of the Nigerian youth are suffering , both the graduate and none graduate are all in the same category over the issue of unemployment in the country.
...At least through out Nigeria. We have millions of student applying to study at Nigeria higher institutions, yes we could deduct that 20% would later gain admission while others will wait till another year, whereas some student will also graduate from their respective secondary school. The population of the applicants get more increase every year.
...Graduate could get job after they finished with their studies, running up and down in order to get something to eat, yet the government couldn't provide all they need to help the situation.
...From the little they gather from their hustling job, they pay tax and other monetary payment you requested for.
...This was what a young graduate of civil engineer have to say over the controversy from the presidential specch...
"The word lazy means been unwilling to do work or make an effort; disinclined to exertion.
The scope of this note will be in respect to the above definition.
President M' Buhari who is the head of the present government was quoted into the Commonwealth Business Forum in Westminster, London saying " More than 60 percent of the population is below 30, a lot of them haven’t been to school and they are claiming that Nigeria is an oil producing country, therefore, they should sit and do nothing, and get housing, healthcare, education free.”
According to what I'm seeing in some parts in Nigeria, 75% of Nigerian youths are either hustling for survival at the office, workshop or in the street. I know many who acquired degree which was acquired with their responsibility or their parent/guardian's responsibility that are unable to get job due to irresponsibility of the government but now hustling for survival on the street or workshops. There are some that learnt trade but on street selling drinks or other wares and been engaged in hard labour just to get capital to set up themselves in the learnt trade; there are some that are forced out of their trade due to epileptic power to commercial motorcycle riding. Some others in their businesses as shop owner or assistance /staff.
Though some youths engage resolved to crime, gambling or prostitution but those in this category has a very low percentage of those hardworking youths.
From this hard earned money, the youths pay house rents, health bills, power bills, water bills, waste bills, tax and other bills but not waiting for the government to do same.
The government that has power to make and/ or enforce laws, control resources, protect the citizens interest of the country is paying 18,000 minimum wage and the N power graduate program is 30,000 but the entry wage that some youths resolved to is 1,200 daily which is beyond the the pay of the government for Civil servants. The government has also failed in providing employment for the youth. The states are insecured as a result of irresponsibility of the government. The government has never provided any work in surplus of the willing youth. The demand for job of the capable and willing to work youths is far beyond the supply of the government. The youths in their willingness to work sometimes do fall victim of fraud.
In conclusion, we have some youths who are lazy but their percentage is less than 30% while in the government officials too, we have many who are irresponsible and performing below tasks, their percentage is higher than 89%. Who is guilty of laziness? The government that failed to provide jobs or the hustling youths. It's over to those outside these two categories to judge.
