Ronaldo to capitalize on Messi's injury to win another award

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo is set to capitalize on Lionel Messi’s injury to win another major award at the end of the season in Spain.

Ronaldo is determined to win the Pichichi race which is the Golden Boot in Spain. The player that emerges as the league highest goal scorer claims the award at the end of the campaign.

Messi and the Portuguese forward is set to take advantage of it.

The Barcelona talisman is currently injured and he was unable to play in Argentina friendly games against Italy and Spain respectively due to a hamstring injury.

Messi has won the Pichichi on four occasions in 2010, 2012, 2013, and 2017, whereas the Real Madrid forward has only won it on three occasions 2011, 2104, and 2015.

Ronaldo is determined to equal his rival’s record and he has now gained more morale boost from the injury to the Argentine forward.

Messi has complained of the injury to Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde and he has been nursing it for a while and he felt it during their 3-0 win over Chelsea in the Champions League, according to report in Diario Gol.

Messi will only feature in the most important games for Barcelona with the league almost a wrapped up.

The Portuguese forward has hit top form again despite a slow start to the season which saw him score just one goal in eight games.

The former Manchester United forward has now discovered his scoring form and has scored 37 goals in 35 games in all competitions.
