Kenyan Prostitute
Prostitution is called the oldest profession in the world. The reasons for it are very straight-forward. Men want lungula more than women do. This means that they will go to great lengths to get it. From getting married to using the services of a call-girl.
In Kenya many local tourists go to the coast to enjoy the beaches, sun and sand. But something else too! S3x. A shocking UN report on human trafficking has shed light on the levels of prostitution going on in the county.
The research titled Assessment Report on Human Trafficking Situation in the Coastal Region of Kenya states that about 15,000 girls aged between 12 and 18 years from the Coast, are engaged in prostitution. The main areas affected are the Diani, Kilifi, Malindi and Mombasa areas.
The report indicates that prostitution increases during the tourist peak season. The reason for the high rates of prostitution is because of the high rates of poverty in the area.
Also mentioned in the study is that Mombasa is a leading transit route for people smuggled from Ethiopia and Horn of Africa nations to Tanzania and other Southern African nations.
Additionally, the study states that while many people from foreign countries are being smuggled through the coast, that smuggling of Kenyans from the hinterland also occurs.
The report also sadly reveals:
Girls in the coastal areas of Kenya are often recruited for jobs in the (Persian) Gulf through hair salons and restaurants, but are subsequently exploited on arrival.
A sad state of affairs if you ask me.
