Research by Twitter has revealed where fans of Premier League clubs are located around the world and we have totted up the leading clubs in each territory to find out which team can boast the biggest spread of global support.
Only five clubs can claim to be the biggest followed Premier League team in at least one country, and you can find out the top five by checking out the gallery above.
*Twitter’s research looked “at the official Twitter accounts for each team, using their followers as an indicator of allegiance (as opposed to, say, instances in which people mention a team while watching an interesting matchup or talking about a team’s rival)”.
Some interesting findings included:
Liverpool are the most followed club in the United Kingdom and other territories with historic links to Britain, including Australia and New Zealand, plus the Republic of Ireland.
Manchester United are the most followed club in the world’s most populated nations, China and India.
Chelsea are the most followed club by number of countries in Europe, Central America, South America, the Middle East and Asia.
Arsenal are the most followed club in the USA and Canada, plus Africa.
