What makes Mercedes Benz cars not somersault?

Mercedes-Benz A-class was famous for somersaulting in the so-called “moose test”. Must have been about twenty years ago, but you may still google it. Due to this, however, Mercedes-Benz introduced ESP, electronic stability program, in the respective cars. In brief, said program releases or tightens the brake at one wheel at which the car might somersault, so that the wheel might slip to avoid somersaulting, and tightens or releases the brakes at the other wheels to maintain overall brake force. In addition, ESP might help to spin the car around to stay on a lane even in narrow radius.

Buhari: Fani-Kayode attacks Tinubu over comment on Obasanjo

Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has attacked a National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for describing former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s letter to President Muhammadu Buhari as nothing but “bad belle.”

Tinubu had while speaking on the 10th Colloquium to mark his 66th birthday in Lagos yesterday said Obasanjo’s letter to Buhari was borne out of jealousy.

Reacting via his Twitter handle, Fani-Kayode recalled that Tinubu had once hailed Obasanjo as his mentor.

He also described the APC leader’s statement as sad and tragic.

According to him, “To describe OBJ’s letter as nothing but ‘bad belle’ is a great disservice.

“This is the same man that you once hailed as your navigator.

“This is an all-time low. It is sad. It is tragic. It is pitiful.”

BREAKING NEWS: Senate President Bukola Saraki, Joins 2019 Presidential Race

According to an exclusive report by respected Nigerian journalist and magazine publisher, Dele Momodu, senate president, Bukola Saraki has joined the 2019 presidential race.

Though Saraki is yet to make any official declaration, Dele Momodu says, ‘The Boss can exclusively reveal that Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki has joined the 2019 Presidential race.

There is no doubt that he would be a formidable force that should not be ignored because only few politicians in Nigeria today have the pedigree, the experience, the clout and the connection of Senator Saraki.

Having risen to the enviable position of the number three citizen, the only place to go for the two-term Senator and former two-term governor is up!

Indeed, Saraki is not new to the dynamics of power politics, he is the scion of a political dynasty that is well-known across the nation’.

CONGRATULATIONS: Anthony Joshua Defeats Joseph Parker (Drop Your Congratulatory Messages)

Anthony Joshua defeats Joseph Parker to unify the heavyweight division at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff

Anthony Joshua unified the heavyweight division as he defeated Joseph Parker by unanimous decision at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

The three judges scored the fight 119-109, 118-110 and 118-110 as Joshua won the WBO heavyweight title, adding it to his IBF, WBA and IBO belts.

It was a cagey fight throughout, with neither man managing to land any major shots. There were brief moments where the fight came alive, but in the main it was quiet.

Referee Giuseppe Quartarone received a lot of criticism in the fight, as he failed to let the boxers exchange during a lot of the action.

After the fight, Joshua called out WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder for another unification fight, where a win would make Joshua undisputed champion.

On the undercard, Manchester fighter Anthony Crolla picked up a unanimous decision win against Edson Ramirez, and David Price was knocked out by Alexander Povetkin in the fifth round.

Mohamed Salah equals Premier League record held by Robin van Persie and Cristiano Ronaldo

Mohamed Salah‘s late winner against Crystal Palace saw him equal a Premier League record jointly held by Cristiano Ronaldo and Robin van Persie

Luka Milivojevic’s penalty fired Crystal Palace into a 1-0 lead with just 13 minutes on the clock this afternoon at Selhurst Park.

However, goals from Sadio Mane and Salah secured all three points for the visitors who leapfrogged Manchester United into second in the Premier League.

Salah’s strike has now seen the Egyptian forward equal the goalscoring record of both Ronaldo and van Persie, scoring in the joint-most Premier League games in a single 38-match season.

Salah has played brilliantly this season, scoring 29 goals in 31 Premier League appearances for Liverpool, while he has also scored 37 goals in all competitions.

This equals the number of goals Ronaldo scored in the same number of games during the Portuguese’s 2007/08 season with Manchester United. However, the Egyptian needs just three more to surpass Ronaldo’s joint-record tally for a single 38-game campaign.

The goal has also placed Salah alongside Chelsea legend Didier Drogba for the most goals scored in a single Premier League season by an African player.

Away from the Premier League, the Liverpool forward’s exploits in front of goal have put him ahead of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in the race for this year’s Golden Shoe.

Should he continue to convert at such a rate, he may even be contesting the La Liga duo for next year’s Ballon d’Or.

P-Square split juicy details: Paul Okoye opens secrets

There is no use waiting for new P-Square music, as the group has broken up for good. If you want to know what happened between the two brothers, then check out this article, where we will tell you the real facts about the P-Square split. The truth might shock you!

P-Square fight (Paul's side)

It is not like the Okoye brothers have never fought before. The two have threatened two break up several times before (at least three times, but who is counting?), but each time they made up and continued with their career. So what could have happened this past September?

It has been more than half a year since the conflict between the two brothers. There have been no major developments on the story until about a week ago, when Paul decided to give an interview to Showtime Celebrity, in which he explained what happened from his point of view. You can find the full interview on Vanguard.

From what we have been able to gather, Paul does not like talking about what happened. He shared that he did not appreciate the questions about his personal life, particularly about the relationship with his brother.

That said, Paul admitted that he took his brother’s exit from their group to heart. For months, he could not do anything, as he felt really low. Nevertheless, Paul has since bounced back and returned to his normal state.

When asked about whether P-Square will ever get back together, the musician said that it was not him who left the group, and he has waited long enough for his brother to return. Alas, Peter did no such thing, which means that there is probably no future for P-Square.

P-Square fight (Peter's side)

Now that we have talked about Paul's side of the story, let's consider Peter's for a moment. Why did he decide to leave the group that has brought him immense popularity?

Well, the short answer is that Peter decided that he no longer wanted to be in a group with his brother, so he quit. The long answer is that Peter had a very solid reason for leaving the group.

According to various reports, both his twin brother Paul and their older brother Jude have behaved extremely inappropriately towards Peter and his family. Apparently, they were stirring up all kinds of drama and even threatening the safety of Peter’s wife and kids.

All three brothers were seen fighting in public, as well as on their social media, which only heated the public’s attention. Later, when the anger died down, the family lawyer had to come out and say that nobody was at fault for what happened, and that all that happened was because of too much emotion and passion.

Other than that, there is little else known about the conflict and its causes. Even though quite some time has passed, it is evident that P-Square is not very likely to exist ever.

How P-Square story started

P-Square started out as a young brother duo of Peter and Paul Okoye, when the two of them were in school, however, back then, they were not yet known as P-Square. For some time, the brothers even were a part of a quartet that sang a cappella (can you imagine that?), but, as you can see, it did not last long.

At the dawn of the twenty first century, Peter and Paul finally realized that they did not need anyone else to become successful musicians and decided become a duet. Before they settled on P-Square, they tried the names P&P, Double P and Da Pees.

After winning Grab Da Mic in 2001 and releasing their debut album in 2003, P-Square began gaining immense popularity. Over the next decade, the dynamic twin duo managed to become one of the most successful Nigerian musicians, with fans all over the world. For many years, the two were the richest musicians in the country, raking money from their tours and music sales.

Where is P-Square now?

If you have stopped following the duo after their breakup, then you might be surprised that two brothers are still doing very well, even on their own. Of course, they are not quite as popular separately as they were together.

As we have mentioned previously, it took a long time for Paul Okoye to return to the studio and create music on his own. However, time has passed, wounds have healed (or at least scabbed over), and Paul is back again. These days, the man performs under the name RudeBoy or King Rudy. Even without his brother, he manages to gather large crowds for his concerts, and his songs get thousands of hits. Paul also enjoys spending time with his wife and children.

If you want to follow the life of King Rudy, you can find him on Twitter and Instagram @rudeboypsquare and on Facebook and Snapchat @rudeboyfire. It is interesting to see that he still has not dropped the P-Square part from his socials.

As for Peter Okoye, he wasted no time on building his solo career. Despite the fact that he was the one who initiated the breakup, Peter, or Mr. P, as he is now known, often uses the name P-Square, as can be seen on his concert posters.

Just like his brother, he is making his own music, touring different countries and seemingly enjoying the luxurious life of a solo artist. You can find him @peterpsquare on Twitter and Instagram. Nevertheless, he is far from being as popular as P-Square once was.

Overall, it seems like this breakup has been a long time coming. Tensions between the brothers have been building up over the years, and 2017 just became the year when everything fell apart. Neither of the brothers feel like talking about this anymore, so it would be best if we leave it alone as well. Whether P-Square ever gets back together or not, we hope that both Peter and Paul have a bright future.

5 Things We've Learned From Lil Wayne & Birdman's Beef

Neilson Barnard/Getty Images

Lil Wayne and Birdman gave us five major takeaways from their years-long money struggle.

Lil Wayne and Birdman may finally be putting their differences aside. Now, how many times have you read the sentence in the last three years? The dread-headed lyrical tyrant acrimoniously parted ways with his fictional father’s Cash Money record label in 2014. Yes, it has already been over three years since Wayne tweeted “To all my fans, I want u to know that my album won't and hasn't been released bekuz Baby & Cash Money Rec. refuse to release it,” in December or 2014. Out of all the bars that Wayne has laid down over the years, it was that sentence that shook Weezy’s massive fan base the most.

Since 2014, the multi-million-dollar feud has been a constant roller coaster ride of proposed truces and reloaded, enraged threats. It first started as a plea from Wayne to release his album, Tha Carter V, but it escalated into a full-blown “where’s my money?” lawsuit that has snowballed into one of the biggest hip-hop fallouts since Jay-Z and Dame Dash. The feud reached a dangerous level of enmity after Young Thugand Birdman associate Peewee Roscoe was arrested for shooting up Wayne’s tour bus in 2015. Roscoe even pointed to Birdman as being a party to the attempted hit on Wayne, but a judge handed Peewee a 10-year prison sentence, along with 10 years of probation, without extending charges to the implicated Cash Money millionaire.

There have been several moments of speculated sunshine that teased Young Money fans from behind a cloud of doubt since the fallout began. Habitual nice-guy Drake arranged a New Years Eve party in 2016 that brokered a truce between Birdman and Wayne. The two were even pictured in the studio together and on stage together soon after the truce, but Wayne broadened his lawsuit in the spring of 2016 to include unpaid profits from his investments in Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Tyga’s careers. So ended the Drizzy-arranged truce.

Last weekend, Wayne and Birdman were spotted hugging it out at LIV in Miami. The two have been so closely intertwined for so long that it’s hard to believe they don’t still have love for each other. TMZ recently reported that the two have been attempting to squash their beef for months. Working through the beef doesn’t mean that Wayne will drop the lawsuits though, which may continue to put a strain on his relationship with Birdman. Some would say the collision course of Wayne’s career and Birdman’s historically atrocious payroll skills was written in destiny long before it finally came to a head.

Now, if the conflict is actually coming to a close, it’s essential to look back at the biggest lessons learned from this family feud. Wayne and Birdman gave us five major takeaways from their years-long money struggle.

Keep Your Imprint Separate From Your Major

Neilson Barnard/Getty Images

Lil Wayne created Young Money Records as his own label. Still, Wayne had both Cash Money and their parent company, Universal Music Group, to answer to. Looking back at the hold-up that Tha Carter V is facing, that entire situation could have been avoided if Weezy took his own label elsewhere. If Weezy had brought his Cash Money imprint to one of the other major labels (Sony or Warner), Birdman would not have had the ability to hold the album up. When Drake created his OVO imprint, he took the label to Warner Bros. Records. The move effectively circumvented any legal and financial connections with Birdman and Cash Money, allowing Drizzy’s artists’ careers to be unaffected by the drama that he himself has been drawn into.

Family and Money Doesn't Mix Well

Doug Benc/Getty Images

This lesson seems so obvious, but yet here we are, over 3 years into one of the most public family-money feuds in hip-hop history. Birdman and Wayne aren’t really related, and there was never an official adoption. In fact, Wayne has claimed that his stepfather  Reginald "Rabbit" McDonald is the man whom he considers his real dad, although he is named after his biological father. Several artists have called Birdman out for unpaid dues over the last decade, and the only conceivable reason that Wayne stayed at Cash Money was his love for his hip-hop pop. In fact, although it was well-known that Birdman had stuck his hands into his artists' pockets, no one would have ever believed that he would steal from his son.

Be Wary of Multi-Label Deals

Matt Winkelmeyer/Getty Images

Young Money is under Cash Money, which is under UMG, which is a subsidiary of Vivendi. That means that there’s a line of people touching Wayne’s money before he does. It also means that his artists' money is also tied up under layers of labels. Young Money and Cash Money came to an agreement that net profits earned by solo artists like Nicki Minaj and Drake would not be used to fulfill debts and advances previously accumulated by Cash Money. Still, UMG took Young Money's profits to pay Cash Money's debts. In the lawsuit aimed at UMG, Wayne claims that the two labels "colluded" to "expand Universal’s rights and compensation regarding the distribution and exploitation of Drake recordings." Everbody's all tied up.

Keep Your Management and Record Label Separate

Ethan Miller/Getty Images

Lil Wayne met his manager Cortez Bryant at Eleanor McMain Secondary School in 7th grade. The two remained friends through the years while Wayne pursued a career in hip-hop and Bryant attended college. Just as Bryant was finishing his mass communications degree at Jackson State in Mississippi, Wayne asked him to become his manager. Since the Young Money/Cash Money fallout, Bryant has been one of the most important assets in Wayne’s corner. He wholeheartedly believes in Wayne’s talent, and he immediately shut the door on Birdman once he realized that his friend was being mistreated. Rappers who choose to let their record label assign them management, or a legal team, risk the chance of being caught in an intricate web where everybody is on the same team except the artist-- making it a them vs. artist situation.

Don’t Forget Who Butters Your Bread

Jemal Countess/Getty Images

It seems like all this Cash Money/Young Money mayhem began around the time that Young Thug and Birdman partnered up. Rich Homie Quan was in the mix as well. Thugger was emerging as one of the biggest stars in hip-hop, and his iconic worshiping of Wayne most likely secured his loyalty to Birdman. Who better to tutor a young Wayne protégé, than the man that tutored Wayne, right? The relationship between Young Thug and Birdman grew, and Thugger’s projects kept flowing, while Wayne’s album faced multiple delays which led to the eventual “shelving” of the album. Birdman was under the impression that he found himself a new Lil Wayne in Thugger. Even after Rich Homie left, Birdman was still convinced that Thugger was the new wave. Truth be told, he could be right. The fact remains though, that there is only one Lil Wayne. The entire reputation of Cash Money sits at Wayne’s feet. Yes, Birdman may have built the label alongside his brother Slim, but their legacy is rooted so deep within Lil Wayne’s music that shunning their legend for the new kid on the block may have been ill-advised.

Good sex better than money – Nollywood actress, Jemima Osunde

Fast-rising Nollywood actress, Jemima Osunde, has declared that good sex is better than money.

In an interview with Broadway TV, the actress was asked to choose between a rich man that is not good in bed and a poor man good in bed.

She responded: “I don’t plan to be broke myself. So, a man good in bed is good for me not his money. Let him give me what I can’t give myself”.

Jemima also reacted to comparisons with Adesua Etomi Wellington.

“I don’t see that as a bad thing. First of all, she is my mama, every child wants to be like their mama I guess.

“And if for anything, she is doing amazingly well, career-wise and in personal life.

“I think God has been great to Adesua. If I happen to be as fortunate, I will be very grateful”, the undergraduate of physiotherapy at the College of Medicine, Lagos, added.

An 11-year-old girl and a woman lost their lives on Saturday after a section of a storeyed building on Abeje Street, Markaz, Agege collapsed.

The deceased residents were identified as Sherifat Olalere and 35-year-old  Toyin Ogundimu while one Mustapha Salaudeen was injured.

Our correspondent learnt that the incident happened around 10am when many residents were around.

The affected section – makeshift structure at the back of the building – was said to have been distressed for some time.

Officials of the Lagos State Management Agency, and the state fire service and policemen who responded to a distressed call from the area, removed the two corpses and deposited them in a mortuary.

The LASEMA General Manager, Mr Adesina Tiamiyu said other occupants of the building had been evacuated.

He urged occupants of residential buildings in the state to be conscious of cracks on the walls and raise the alarm.

He said, “The agency received a distress call via the emergency toll free number at about 10.48am concerning a building at  9 Abeje Street, Markaz, Agege. This ease up the rapid activation of the agency’s Response Team to the scene of the incident

“Investigation carried out by the LASEMA response team at the scene of the incident revealed that a distress storeyed building suffered partial collapse at the backside.

“Unfortunately, two persons, a female adult, Toyin Ogundimu 35, and a young girl, Sherifat Olalere, 11, lost their lives to the incident and one male adult, Mustapha Salaudeen, was rescued and treated at the scene by the ambulance crew.”

CUSTOMS’ OFFICER’S ALLEGED MURDER: They shot our brother dead, claimed he died in accident – Family

Nigeria Customs Service is at the centre of a controversy surrounding alleged extra judicial murder of an official but staged as auto accident by his colleagues.

Yusuf Akinleye

The colleagues, it was learnt, claimed Yusuf Akinleye was killed in an accident on the Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos during an operation whereas the family said the marks found on his body were consistent with those of a victim that had been shot.

According to the family, there were about five bullet wounds on the body, two on the arm and three on the neck, as of the time of burial.

Although Yusuf was buried penultimate Friday, same day he died, two family members, who spoke to Sunday Vanguard, said they had the photos of the victim to prove their claim.

Ashimiyu Akinleye, Yusuf’s immediate senior brother, and Michael Kolawole, his cousin, said the deceased may have been killed by his colleagues and concocted the accident story to cover up the heinous act.

They however could not tell the rank of the deceased.

Ashimiyu only said his brother may have been in Customs on a temporary appointment based on the discussion they had sometime last year when Yusuf told him he was going to enlist in the NCS.

When the deceased, according to him, mentioned that he wanted to join the Customs, he (Ashimiyu) noted that the Service was not recruiting but Yusuf told him a friend was helping to arrange a temporary appointment pending when NCS would formalise the recruitment.

Then he narrated that Yusuf began working in the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) of the Customs at Ikeja, Lagos until penultimate Friday when he received a telephone call from a woman from the FOU who told him his brother had died in a motor accident on the Third Mainland Bridge during an operation against smugglers.

Stationed in Abuja, Ashimiyu said he could not immediately come to Lagos to verify the death but he called one of his siblings, Kamoru Akinleye, and cousin, Michael Kolawole, both of whom are resident in Lagos, to inform them of the development and meet the Customs authorities.

“I was confused learning about the death of a brother on phone. I felt like growing wings and flying to Lagos from Abuja to know what was happening. But since that was impossible, I had to call two of our family members in Lagos to visit the Customs and find out what the situation was”, he told Sunday Vanguard.

Kolawole said that on getting to the FOU headquarters in Ikeja, he and Kamoru met the Deputy Comptroller Administration who briefed them about Yusuf’s death in motor accident.

According to the family member, who is a pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, the Deputy Comptroller told them the corpse had been packaged for burial that same day for burial since Yusuf, also called Alfa, was a Muslim.

He said the Customs authorities then got an ambulance to convey the corpse to Ibadan, the home town of the Akinleyes, for burial, saying however that he did not go on the trip with the team because he had some assignment in Lagos that Friday.

Kolawole said the only family member who went with the corpse alongside some Customs officials was Kamoru, Yusuf’s sibling.

The pastor stated that the FOU officials gave the team N40, 000 to take care of welfare and burial expenses.

Ashimiyu, who claimed to be monitoring all the developments on phone from his Abuja base, told Sunday Vanguard that when the team arrived Ibadan, family members insisted on washing the corpse before burial only to uncover the clothes in which it was wrapped to behold at least five bullet wounds on the body.

“We believed the story of our brother dying in accident up to that point. The bullet marks pointed to the suspicion that Yusuf was murdered and the accident story concocted to cover up the heinous act. I asked my people to take photographs of the bullet wounds on the body before burial according to Islamic rites which they did”, the bereaved brother said.

According to him, following the discovery, the family decided to send a team to the FOU last Monday to demand for a doctor’s report on the deceased, a police report on the purported accident in which Yusuf died and the vehicle involved in the crash.

Ashimiyu said the family team, including Kamoru and Kolawole, returned to the Customs Headquarters in Ikeja and briefed the Deputy Comptroller Administration on the twist to the death, saying the Customs top official was astonished about the revelation, following which the team in which Yusuf served on that fateful Friday was summoned to respond to the allegation of extra judicial killing of their colleague.

The Deputy Comptroller, he said, promised the family that the death of his brother will be investigated while all seven members of the Yusuf team were ordered to be detained pending the conclusion of the probe.

“All we want is justice. We have cause to believe that our brother was murdered”, Ashimiyu said.

He thanked Customs authorities for the financial assistance they gave to the family since the death of Yusuf.

Yusuf’s widow, Rasheedat Kehinde, who also spoke to Sunday Vanguard on phone, said she had two children, aged three and five, for the deceased, wondering how they would cope following the death of their breadwinner.

“It is like the end of the world for us”, she added.

When Sunday Vanguard contacted the spokesperson for the FOU Ikeja, Jerry Atta, on the story on Friday, he said he was not aware of the case.

How Joshua added WBO belt to WBA, IBO & IBF titles

In what could be described as a sweet victory from a hard earned bout, Anthony Oluwafemi Olaseni Joshua on Sunday emerged the clear winner to add the WBOheavyweight belt to his WBA, IBO and IBFtitles.

The Nigerian born professional boxer defeated Joseph Parker at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium in the heavyweight unification bout with a unanimous points verdict.

Joshua who was born in Watford, Hertfordshire, to Nigerian parents, Yetaand Robert Joshua added the WBO belt to the WBA and IBF belts he already holds, but he took the distance for the first time in his professional career.

It was his 21st straight career victory, although previously unbeaten New Zealander Parker delivered a battling display without seriously troubling Joshua.

Joshua, almost a stone lighter than when he beat Carlos Takam in Cardiff last October, did enough without setting the fight alight, while Parker had his moments, even if an upset victory never looked on.heer size and power of Joshua was keeping him mostly on the retreat and he was wobbled a little again.

The WBO title holder was keeping himself in the rounds but having difficulty doing enough to win them. He did; however, appear to edge the fifth when he broke past the AJ jab to land a couple of good rights.

Suitably encouraged, Parker went on all-out attack at the start of the sixth and drove Joshua around the ring with a series of rights. When Joshua landed a heavy right himself the Kiwi absorbed the shock, true to his resilient reputation.

Plan B for team Parker, if he could not land an early knockout, was to test Joshua’s allegedly suspect stamina deep into the fight. Joshua was warned by referee Giuseppe Quartarone for throwing a huge right uppercut on the break.

The punch was reminiscent of the one which undid Wladimir Klitschko at Wembley but fortunately it did not have the same effect. Had it done so there might have the risk of a disqualification.

Parker was doing his best to drag Joshua into a brawl. AJ was tempted but held his temper and picked off the opponent with a sizeable left at close quarters. This time Parker staggered but again he took a punch which might have finished many another heavyweight.

We were in the rounds in which Joshua had predicted a knockout victory, but his rhythm was being interrupted by the tape on his glove coming loose. That made for a messier round and Parker may have edged it with a couple of right-hand sorties.

Joshua reasserted himself with three big lefts which reddened Parker’s right eye. But once again he was having trouble putting his man away.

Parker had made real fight of it against size and odds but there was still no sign of the knockout he needed when decisively behind on the score cards. And a couple of late lefts from Joshua took the penultimate round away from him.

There was no sign of Joshua running out of steam. So that question appeared to have been answered. But come the final bell Parker had still never been put down in his career. Joshua went for that scalp in the last but the knock-out was not be and the reception from the crowd was mixed.

Controversy as Oluwo adopts Emir title

THE Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdul-Rasheed Akanbi, Telu I, stoked the fire of controversy yesterday by adopting the title of an Emir.

He officially declared himself the Emir of Yorubaland.

Speaking at the installation and the turbaning ceremony of the first Waziri of Yorubaland, Fadhilaru Sheikh Yahquub Abdul-Baaqi Mohammed, the Oluwo, who adorned an Islamic regalia, said whoever calls him an Emir of Yoruba was in order.

The monarch said Iwo is using the title of Waziri to announce to the world it is truly a citadel of Islamic knowledge.

According to him, Iwo has a distinctive traditional history among the Yoruba race, adding that “these peculiarities have made Iwo to be at the forefront in Yoruba land.”

He condemned those enagaing in cult activities, saying that any traditional submitting his authorities to any cult does not know his worth.

He charged the leaders of the cult groups to expel kings and clerics from their midst because they don’t deserve to be called representatives of God.

The monarch said: “The blood of Oduduwa is running in my veins. I am the Emir of the Yorubaland.

“So far the Alaafin of Oyo has power to install Are Ona Kankafo and Iyalode of Yoruba land. I also have the power to install the Waziri of Yorubaland in accordance with the history which proves that the first monarch in Yorubaland to accept and establish Islam is Oluwo Muhammadu Lamuye.

“Iwo Ilu Aafa is not just a saying. There is a deep history connected to it.

“The first monarch in the entire Yoruba land that accepted and established Islam among the people was the Oluwo Mohammadu Lamuye. The first mosque in Iwo was built in 1655 and that is the first indigenous mosque in Yorubaland.”

Continuing, he said: “Today is historic because I want to give Islam a very good structure in Yoruba land.

“I want to use this title to announce to the world that truly Iwo is the citadel of Islamic knowledge. Iwo has a unique and distinctive traditional history among the entire Yoruba race.

“When I came on the throne, I met a lot of problems of disunity among the Yoruba monarchs but in the North you can’t see the Emirs fighting one another.

“The Waziri didn’t come from the Hausas nor the Fulanis but from the Islamic structure.

“So, anybody that wants to criticise me doesn’t know the history. My action is not just taken from the surface at all but from the history.

“We all believe that Oduduwa is the father of Yoruba. He came from Mecca and he did not come with any form of god. How will anybody believe the report that Oduduwa came from the sky through chains? Even Jesus Christ the son of God according to the Christian faith, was born by a woman.

“Nobody is a King but God. We are only representing him. So, how will you be a king and be at the mercy of the small gods?

“The institution of the King doesn’t allow me to bow for any other gods. As a king is in the Europe so also the Emir is the head in Mecca where Oduduwa came from.

“In this regard I am in order. The only abomination is that there should not be any god in the palace. I have demonstrated this in the past.”

The Oluwo, who expressed disappointment at how traditional rulers in  Yoruba race always disagree among themselves over issues that could be resolved amicably, charged them to embrace harmony and work in unison for the progress of Yoruba race.

The monarch maintained remarkable achievements could only be recorded in the atmosphere of peace.

BUHARI, APC NEC & TENURE EXTENSION: Still a ding-dong affair

In January this year, Sunday Vanguard had exclusively exposed plans by some strategists to get stakeholders of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to agree to a tenure extension for members of its National Working Committee, NWC. Although, the party denied any such plan at the time, the issue began to gain some traction weeks after the report.

Buhari-Oyegun-Tinubu

The proposal was actually the brainchild of some powerful pro-Buhari forces within the ruling party, even before the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, announced its time-table for the 2019 general elections. In the timetable and schedule of activities, the election management body fixed the conduct of party primaries for between  August 18, 2018 to October 7, 2018.

In line with the provisions of Article 17(i) of the APC Constitution, the tenure of all officers elected into ward, local government, state and national organs of the Party will be expiring in the second quarter of 2018, precisely in June, a development that would leave the conduct of the primaries to either an interim executive or the new executives.

“Sponsors of the tenure elongation proposal reasoned that putting in place an interim executive to conduct the party’s primaries may be counter-productive and disrupt strategic plans by powerful interests in the party to present the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari as the APC’s flag-bearer for the 2019 presidential election”, volunteered a top party source who spoke off record at the time.

According to him, the sponsors also reason that an interim executive could be hijacked by well-known contending forces within the APC who could frustrate the bid to return President Buhari.

APC State Chairmen Sought 2-Year Tenure Extension for selves, NWC

Hours to the 4th National Executive Committee, NEC, meeting of the party which held on  February 27, the Forum of APC State Chairmen passed a vote of confidence on the Chief John Oyegun-led NWC of the party, and asked for a two-year tenure extension for themselves and the NWC to enable them concentrate on the forthcoming general elections.

“The forum, after dissections and thorough appraisal of the APC-led Government, hereby unanimously pass a vote of confidence on our dear President Muhammadu Buhari, the National Chairman of our great party Chief John Odigie-Oyegun and other leaders of our great party for their numerous achievements despite the challenges so far experienced in our dear country. We also urge Mr. President to present himself for second tenure come 2019”, the forum noted in its communique last night in Abuja.

The forum also resolved as follows; “That we support His Excellency Senator Bola Tinubu-led peace and reconciliation committee and urge the committee to expedite action in reconciling members of the party. The forum also calls on all the members of our great party to give maximum support to the committee to achieve sustainable peace in the party

“In view of the short period between the time available for the proposed party congresses and INEC published time-table for conduct of party primaries and general elections, the forum resolved that the tenure of the present officers of the party at all levels be extended by 2 years to avert challenges in the party”, the Forum stated in it’s communiqué which was signed by about 31 state chairmen who attended the meeting among who was the chairman of the forum, Chief Henry Ajomale of Lagos state.

How NEC voted for Tenure Elongation

At its meeting of  February 27, NEC almost unanimously approved a one-year tenure extension for the NWC as well as all other structures of the party at the state and local government levels.

At the meeting which was attended by President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo national assembly leaders and state governors, NEC said the proximity of the end of tenure of the NWC to the elections made the extension imperative.

INEC has scheduled National Elections for February 2019. The election management body in its recently announced time-table for the general elections also fixed the conduct of party primaries for  August 18, 2018 to October 7, 2018, when the names of candidates would have been submitted.  If the administrative cadre of the party is reconstituted in June 2018, then only about two months will be available for the it to organize congresses nationwide and the National Convention to choose state and national candidates including the presidential candidate as well as design strategy, manifesto and other programmes for the general elections.

Furthermore, primaries to pick candidates for Ekiti and Osun States governorship elections as well as the campaign for the elections will attract the attention of the party executives. Manifesto drafting, constitution review and membership mobilisation are critical items on the agenda of the party executives.

Coupled with the crisis the  bedevilling  party in many states    and the    listed activities of the party this year and the available time, NEC found it unwise to embark on a wholesale replacement of the executive cadre of the party at all levels at a time so close to the general election.

Consequently, when the issue was put to a vote, 104 NEC members voted in support while four voted against the extension in spite of the legal advice of Prof. Osinbajo that the decision, though popular, was legally deficient.

At a post-NEC media briefing, Kogi State governor, in company of other governors and party officials, disclosed that the NEC meeting decided to extend Chief John Odigie- Oyegun led NWC, relying on Article 13 of the party’s constitution.

Bello said: “At the end of the National Executive Council meeting today, a major decision was taken in line with the constitution of our party. We are all aware that the tenure of the current NWC and the executive members of this party both elected and appointed comes to an end June this year.

“Considering the time left for the party to conduct all the Congresses and Convention and considering that our leader, Sen. Tinubu has been charged with the responsibility of reconciling all aggrieved members of our party, we cannot afford to approach the general elections with more disputes and crises.

“So, relying on Article 13 of our Constitution, which empowers the NEC to carry out the functions of the convention, the NEC has decided to extend the tenure of the current NWC and other executive committees at various levels for another 12 months, starting from  June 30th.”

Where the President Got it Wrong

But barely a month later at the 5th NEC meeting of the party, the President attempted a reversal of the decision of NEC. Relying on what he said was legal advice from the Ministry of Justice, the President described the earlier decision of the NEC on tenure elongation as illegal.

Of the 14 organs of the party, the National Convention is the highest decision making organ. It follows therefore that where the NEC does not reverse itself on a decision, it is only the National Convention, and not the president, that can reverse the decision of NEC.

Having stated his own position, the President had set the tone for conversation when he said his decision did not preclude NEC from further discussing the matter. Buhari said the party’s legal adviser would shed more light on the issue but when called upon to do so, Dr Muiz Banire, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, differed when he said there was no extension but only a proposal, a view shared by Gov. Yahaya Bello.

Banire, faulted and tacitly dismissed constitutional queries raised by the President on the grounds that the extension did not confer substantive status on Party Executives as they will only serve in acting capacities for 12 months. He said NEC derived its powers to make the decision from Section 13.3 of the Party’s constitution.

A party source quoted Banire as submitting that the President’s decision on the tenure extension was  sub judice, as the matter was already before the courts.

The Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu,  SAN  on his part also reportedly adopted Banire’s legal position, reminding the President of the logistical and political exigencies that informed NEC’s decision to extend the tenure of Party Executives by 12 months.

The prompt intervention of the national chairman who proposed the setting up of a committee to review NECs previous decision saved the President from further backlash.  Sunday  Vanguard understands that the Terms of Reference of the committee are currently being drafted with a view to having the committee swing into action as soon as practicable.

Go and start farming, Frank tells Oyegun

The president has gotten support from some unusual quarters.

Suspended Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the party, Comrade Timi Frank, who had been at loggerheads with Chief Odigie-Oyegun had asked the chairman to “honourably resign his position to embrace farming in his home town instead of politics.”

Comrade Frank, while urging his party to learn how to run party administration from the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, also challenged the NWC to tell the world if President Buhari is no longer the leader of APC.”

On his part, the new state chairman of the party in Abia state, Dr. Emmanuel Ndukwe, said the President’s decision to reject the decision of the National Executive Council NEC on tenure extension for the current executive at all levels, was the best, adding that such will strengthen the party.

While commenting on the President’s speech shortly after the NEC meeting, Ndukwe said: “I am a Buharist, the President is a law-abiding citizen and as a law-abiding citizen, we work with the party’s constitution and there is never a place where it was mentioned that a tenure can be extended. So, I gladly accept and very happy that we are going to conduct our congresses, especially in Abia State where I have taken over”.

How much did Michael Jackson have in assets when he died?

Lifelong fan, had main-floor This is It tickets

At the time of his death Michael still had huge assets, but he had awful cash flow problems. He held various other smaller ones but let’s just talk about the two aces in his pocket: Neverland and the Sony/ATV Catalog. To keep it simple, we’ll say at the time of his death they were collectively in the ballpark of half a billion ($500m). Reports vary and not everything is entirely public about it. The problem was that Michael bet and borrowed against the value of these things for a long time and so when he died, if I recalled correctly he had about $2.5m cash on hand—of course that’s a lot for most of us but practically nothing for him, and honestly pretty dangerously low funds to have for someone of his profile. Also to keep it simple we won’t include anything AEG did for This is It production and its current value at the time of his death. It was a big messy thing to deal with and took months (years?) to figure out and settle many creditor claims against Michael and to settle out with AEG.

My memory of the will details are fuzzy and I will definitely double-check, but I do recall it was a very basic, straight-forward arrangement.

I need to re-read the will and for specifics, but as far as I know, his heirs have not yet earned anything that has been specifically set aside for them. Their trusts do not begin funding until they reach 21 years of age respectively (they are currently 20, 19, and 15). I can’t quite remember what the rates or dollar amounts that go into the trusts are, but it is close or equal to the amount willed to charities and humanitarian efforts, with a smaller portion dedicated elsewhere, possibly to Katherine. Currently, the three children and their grandmother Katherine have an allowance of $60k monthly, in addition to their primary expenses being covered such as education, housing, and administrative overhead. Katherine doles out much of that to several of her other adult children. They have other income sources as well (for example, Paris models, and at least three other family members are engaged in business matters) but they aren’t as loaded as their father was…yet. It remains to be seen.

As it is right now the beneficiaries live comfortably and are taken care of but are not wiping their butts with $100 bills. The children have quite a few years to go before they start collecting on their trusts, and sometime in their 20s or 30s are able to take over as estate executors. The current exectuorts

Right now there is an ongoing IRS issue with the Estate that went to trial in January. It wasn’t a jury trial and because of other information that surfaced it’s still in debate over how much the Estate owes the IRS in taxes.

According to Court documents filed in the year 2010 the Jackson state had 310 millions dollars from July 2009 and December 2010. Also the world wide sales of 'posthumous' album and sales of DVD film  'This is It' has had earned an extra $90 millions totaling to $400 millions.

from $310 million earned till 2010, $159 million are used to pay his debts, supporting his children and covering the memorial services charges. Jackson's Estate is still benefiting from the publicity and is maintaining $200 million income per year.

Initial reports upon his death said that he had $1 billion in assets but also had $500 million in debt.  However, this didn't account for his royalties for work that he gave other artists (written songs/music) and whatever endorsements he had.

After a couple years had passed, his bottom line had been reduced to $400 million.  As of October 2013, the taxes have not been calculated according to a report by the IRS.

To date, the assets have yet to be divided as there are still ongoing court proceedings regarding his assets.

Joshua: I’ll fight Deontay Wilder and I’ll beat him

By Scott Gilfoid: Anthony Joshua says he plans on fighting WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder at some point, and he’s certain he’ll beat him when the time comes. The question is when will Joshua (20-0, 20 KOs) take the fight with the powerful Wilder?

Joshua has been wasting time fighting non-champions Wladimir Klitschko and Carlos Takam, and not going after the fight the boxing fans want to see in Wilder. Yeah, it was great that Joshua fought 41-year-old Wladimir Klitschko, but it was a meaningless victory because the Ukrainian fighter was well over-the-hill and hadn’t fought 2 years and hadn’t won a fight since 2014. That was three years before he fought Joshua.

This Saturday Joshua is facing WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker. Wilder was interested in fighting Joshua, but AJ’s promoter Eddie Hearn went for the easier target in making a fight against Parker. What do you say about that move other than it makes Hearn look like he has no confidence in Joshua that he can beat Wilder.

“One hundred percent — there’s no doubt in my mind that fight will happen,” Joshua said to ESPN.com about Wilder. ”And there’s no doubt in my mind that I’ll beat Wilder as well. This is where we’re heading,” Joshua said.

If Wilder is where Joshua is heading, then why his promoter Eddie Hearn trying to shove his Matchroom Boxing stable fighter Dillian Whyte down Deontay’s throat by constantly talking about wanting to make him an offer to come to the UK to fight him in June. Hearn has been trying like mad to get Wilder to take the fight with Whyte since last year, and it looks like he’s hoping Dillian beats him. Why would Hearn hope that Whyte beats Wilder? I think it’s obvious. Hearn sees Wilder as a real threat to beating Joshua.

”I don’t think they want this fight,” Wilder said to TMZ.com about Joshua and Hearn. ”I’m starting to hear about restraining orders and all this stuff. Joshua said he didn’t want the hype. That he was going to call security. My thing is, Eddie is always talking about building the profile and hype his fight up. What’s the biggest place and the biggest opportunity to do it, and it’s free advertising,” Wilder said.

Wilder brings up a good point. If Joshua really wanted the fight with him, then why wouldn’t he use the opportunity after the Parker fight to let Wilder enter the ring, so he could confront him? Even if the British Boxing Board of Control had rules against fighters entering the ring afterwards, Wilder should still be able to talk with Joshua and hype the fight. Joshua said that he doesn’t want to start hyping the fight with Wilder until it’s made. But what’s sad is Hearn still wanted Wilder to come to the UK this week, but not to hype the Joshua-Wilder fight.

What many boxing fans believe is Hearn wanted Wilder to come to Cardiff on Saturday so that he could push a fight between him and Dillian Whyte. That’s not the fight that Wilder wants. It’s the one that Hearn wants. So, if Wilder went to Cardiff this Saturday, there’s a good chance that it would be Whyte that is in his face, pushing for a fight in June, and the boxing media would be pressing Wilder with questions about a fight against Dillian instead of Joshua. What a waste of time that would be for Wilder.

”I ain’t going to the fight. We made a team decision not to go,” Wilder said. ”I said I would come out there on one condition, and that condition was at the end of the fight if Joshua win, I get in the ring and confront him. The next thing I know is I get a call from my manager stating that I’m not going to be able to get in the ring, but they still want me to come. But I already told them what condition I’m coming,” Wilder said.

What good would it be for Wilder to come to Cardiff if he’s unable to hype a fight between him and Joshua? If Wilder went to Cardiff, it wouldn’t be the Joshua fight that he would be hyping. It would be Whyte, and it would be a nightmare for Wilder. It would be one question after another by the local media, saying, ‘Deontay, how come you don’t want to fight Whyte? Are you afraid of him? Why not fight Whyte to help build the Joshua fight? Don’t think you can beat Whyte?’

It would be these kinds of questions repeatedly by the local media to Wilder, and it would be pointless for him to come over there. If Wilder wanted to fight Whyte, then yeah, it would be great for him to go to Cardiff this Saturday night, so he can hype that fight up. But it’s not fair to Wilder for him to travel all the way to the UK hoping to build a fight with Joshua, but then getting stuck with Whyte and having either to either ignore him or tell him that he’s not interested in the fight. If Whyte makes a scene out if, then it helps his popularity and hurts Wilders. It’s a negative for Wilder either way you look at it.

” There’s a lot of pressure from fans in America, media and the papers for Wilder to step up and fight,” Joshua said. ”And now we’re here and I’m that champion and I’m definitely looking forward to it. That’s why back-to-back, I’ve been racking up these belts one by one and taking fights. We’re headed towards the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world.”

It’s interesting how Joshua is spinning this to make it seem like Wilder isn’t the one that wants the fight rather than him and his promoter Eddie Hearn. Unfortunately, there are few boxing fans who believe that Wilder is the problem that is keeping the Joshua fight from happening. Joshua and Hearn are the ones that are seen as the problem by fans, not Wilder. The boxing fans think Joshua is ducking the Wilder fight. It’s hard not to think that when you see Joshua fighting the likes of Parker and Takam instead of Wilder.

Osinbajo counters Gates, says Buhari has invested in human capital

Aliko Dangote, Bill Gates (middle) and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo

The Buhari administration has invested well in human capital, and has launched Nigeria’s largest pro-poor programme ever, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said.

The remarks were made Thursday in an apparent effort to counter a stinging criticism of the administration’s low human capital investment, made by the American billionaire, Bill Gates.

Mr. Osinbajo’s office circulated his remarks on Friday.

Speaking in Lagos during the 10th Bola Ahmed Tinubu colloquium Mr. Osinbajo said despite the fall in the price of crude oil, the Buhari administration had implemented a N500 Billion Social Investment Programme.

The vice president said the Buhari administration was “determined to change the dominant narrative” about the country.

He said, “We were determined to ensure that the notion of a country rich in all natural resources, but even richer in human capital, but being destroyed daily by grand corruption, and the impunity in the looting of public resources; we had to change that narrative.

“We saw a nation where a few in office had so privatized the commonwealth that, while oil prices were at their highest and we were getting growth figures as high as 7%, the majority of people remained extremely poor. On one of our campaign trips in Zamfara State, Mr. President said, “Look at the eyes of this people,” and of course, we saw the poverty and desperation in their eyes. Then he said, “They expect us to fix this problem of their poverty as soon as we get into office.”

Mr. Osinbajo said the Buhari administration has invested heavily, not only in its Social Investment Programmes, but also in agriculture.

“So we decided on two things; one to invest heavily in Agriculture; to create jobs in the hinterlands, provide enough food locally and for all of the urban areas. In our agriculture programme, I’m sure that many would already agree that this has been a tremendous success. Several millions of Nigerians have been employed in agriculture. In fact, Mr. President tells the story of his own village where people used to lease out their farms to farmers from Kano. But now, nobody is leasing out their farms anymore. Everybody is on his own farm.

“Secondly we also decided to put in place an audacious Social Investment Programme to the tune of N500 billion, the largest pro-poor programme in our nation’s history, and the largest social safety net, at least in Sub-Saharan Africa. This was despite the fact that by 2015, oil prices fell by over 50% and our production also fell from over 2 million barrels a day to less than 700,000 barrels a day, sometimes even 500,000 barrels in 2016.

“We have seen today the empirical evidence of the successes of this programme, and all of that is evident for us to see and listen to several testimonies and stories. 200,000 jobs for graduates employed under the N-Power programme, 300,000 more waiting to be employed; they have been pre-selected; over 7 million children being fed daily in 22 States so far; beneficiaries of microcredit loans going to about 300,000; and almost 300,000 households benefiting from conditional cash transfers.”

Nigeria under seige from all corners – Ohanaeze calls for prayers

President-general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief John Nnia Nwodo on Friday urged Nigerians to use this Easter period to intensify their prayers for peace in the country.

He said that “the country is clearly under siege from all corners” and stressed that the period of Easter provides good opportunity for citizens to pray more to God to send succour to alleviate their sufferings.

The Ohanaeze leader stressed that Nigerians should not allow the prevailing hardship in the country affect their spirit of love, brotherliness and peaceful co existence.

Nwodo, in a statement signed by him, urged Nigerians to cultivate the spirit of oneness and also re-dedicate themselves to the virtues of love, patriotism and unity for the desired national development.

“Nigerians Christians must allow the solemnness of the last 40 days of fasting and prayers to influence their thoughts and actions in relating with one another,” he noted.

Nwodo urged Nigerians to use this period to think deeply at the state of the nation with a view to finding a lasting solution to the country’s challenges.

“Restructuring this country is perhaps the sincere and pragmatic way to address the nation’s socio political and economic challenges and time is ripe for political leaders to embrace it,” he said.

The Ohanaeze president-general reiterated his call during the Christmas and New year festivities on Ndigbo to always think home and not to allow the hardship occasioned of the last two years affect them in thinking about their homeland.

He stated that the deliberate exorbitant tax in some states in the country is targeted at Ndigbo to cut their savings and discourage their “Aku rue uno” policy but he urged them not to be dissuaded because nowhere is their wealth more secure than home.

Nwodo also urged Ndigbo to show more than passing interest in the socio-political development in the country by ensuring that all eligible voters collect their voter cards and be ready to use it effectively to pick leaders that would fight for their interests.

The Ohanaeze leader wished all Nigerians a happy Easter celebration and prayed for enduring peace in the country.

Pastor says Nigerians should fight for themselves

He said the government has been unable to curb the recent menace of herdsmen.

Pastor Tunde Bakare  (Sahara Reporters)

Founder of the  Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has warned the Federal Government that Nigerianshave the right to be able to defend themselves if security agencies cannot secure their lives and properties.

According to a report by TheCable, the clergyman said the government has been unable to curb the recent menace of herdsmen across the country and is making the situation worse by ordering citizens to surrender their illegal firearms.

He said that the surrender order should also affect herdsmen who have been at the center of several attacks in 2018 that has led to the death of at least 200 victims across the country, especially in Benue and Taraba.

He said, "This is why I said this government is compromised completely. If you are making such a rule, let it be a statute of general application, let it apply to all. Nigerians to wake up, shine their eyes and put their own destinies into their hands. They should fight for themselves. There are several ways to do it.

"Civil unrest is one of them, protest is another. We (Nigerians) can shut this government down. We have the numbers and we will show them that we have done it before and we will do it again."

The cleric also ripped into President Muhammadu Buhari's administration, criticising the Federal Government for mismanaging fuel subsidy.

He said, "Show me in the world, any civilised society or any nation that is developed where government does business. Government job is to create enabling environment for business to thrive and flourish. Government job is to set policy.

"In Nigeria, the sleaze they get from it (subsidy) is why they are not letting go. There is only one word for either this government or any government, Buhari inclusive: let him that stole steal no more."

Pastor Bakare revealed to his congregation on January 1, 2018, that God wants him to run for president despite his plan to quit politics for good. However, he did not reveal whether he'll run in next year's election, or in the future.

Buhari meets Naomi Campbell

President Muhammad Buhari on Friday met with British model Naomi Campbell on an inspection tour of the Eko Atlantic real estate project in Lagos.

The Thursday morning assessment was part of Mr. Buhari’s visit to Lagos for the 66th birthday events of Bola Tinubu.

The State House was the first to post Mr Buhari’s rendezvous with Ms Campbell on its twitter handle.

Two hours later, the model, known for her controversial involvements with African rich men, returned the recognition with a tweet, although she described it as a “private launch.”

While Ms. Campbell, 47, is still based in the UK, she’s known to have been involved with rich men from Africa.

In 1997, she met with Charles Taylor, a former Liberian warlord currently serving a long sentence for war crimes and crimes against humanity, at a parry organised by former South African President Nelson Mandela.

Mr. Taylor allegedly gave Ms. Campbell a bag that contains diamonds believed to have been mined illegally.

When she testified at the trial of Mr. Taylor, Ms Campbell acknowledged receiving “small, dirty-looking stones” from the former Liberian president’s staff.

The testimony earned her a worldwide ridicule.

In recent years, Ms. Campbell has been rumoured to be dating Kola Aluko, a Nigerian oil dealer currently on the run for alleged fraud.

The duo had been seen riding in Mr Aluko’s luxury yacht across the world

The former Swedish international completed his move to the MLS side last week after ending a short return with United.

Anthony Joshua set for big showdown against Parker

Anthony Joshua [Photo Credit: BBC]

Nigerian-born British boxer Anthony Joshua will on Saturday attempt to add another title to his growing list as he gets into the ring to fight Joseph Parker at Cardiff’s Principality stadium.

Joshua has his eyes on adding Parker’s WBO belt to his WBA and IBF titles in front of 78,000 fans in the Welsh capital.

Having secured a knockout victory over Takam and also dispatching Wladimir Klitschko in April 2017, Joshua is already making a name for himself in the world of boxing.

He, however, has yet another daunting task ahead of him this weekend.

Joshua’s opponent, Parker, is defending his WBO title for the third time this weekend but despite his equally impressive record, he remains a big underdog.

He claimed the vacant belt over Andy Ruiz Jr. back in Dec. 2016.

Parker’s last outing was in Sept. 2017 when he faced Hughie Fury in Manchester, UK.

He successfully defended his WBO world title against Fury, claiming a controversial majority points victory after 12 hard rounds.

In Parker, Joshua will have a toughened challenger, an undaunted underdog with skills, size, and experience, who has yet to taste defeat.

The 26-year old New Zealander is welcoming a big battle and Joshua seems excited by the idea.

“It’s good news that he wants a war,” said Joshua. “In boxing, all you need is a good chin and a right hand but I’ve been working on finesse, technique, counter punching. I hope Joseph Parker falls into my booby traps because I’m going to set him up with some power shots as well. Yeah, I’ll be up for a war. I’ll hopefully be up for some blood, sweat, and cheers from my corner.

“Physically I believe in my ability,” Joshua added. “I’m focused and I understand it’s a boxing match and the people are expecting the pinnacle of boxing. Hopefully, they’ll be able to see me through to victory.”

A victory would pave the way for Joshua to face undefeated American Deontay Wilder as he bids to become the undisputed world heavyweight champion.

The highly-anticipated Joshua-Paker fight is billed for 10.30 p.m. on Saturday.

LaLiga: Barcelona reveal Messi has “small problem” ahead of Sevilla clash

Barcelona manager, Ernesto Valverde has revealed that Lionel Messi has a “small problem” ahead of this weekend’s LaLigaclash against Sevilla.

However, the Argentine maestro has been included in the squad for the fixture.

Messi missed Argentina’s matches against Italy and Spain during the international break and returned to Barcelona for tests earlier this week.

The Catalan club’s medical team gave him the green light to take part in training on Thursday and Friday, but Valverde revealed the forward still has a minor problem.

Valverde will now have to decide whether to risk him from the start against Sevilla or leave him on the bench with Wednesday’s Champions League game against Roma in mind.

“We’re taking care of Messi, just as Argentina did, but we will have to wait before deciding [whether to start him]

“He [still] has a small problem and we have to avoid making it worse. I would like it if he didn’t have any problems, but it’s normal at this stage of the season,” Valverde told a news conference on Friday.

Asked if Messi’s fitness issues were keeping him up at night, Valverde added: “I’m like any manager would be when they have an important player with a knock. You can imagine!”

I am grateful to those investing in Nigeria, says President

The president said investments have helped to provide employment for Nigerians.

President Muhammadu Buhari  (CoreTV)

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday expressed appreciation to foreign and local investors that agreed to commit their investment into Nigeria, aimed at boosting the country's economy.

Buhari, who unveiled a plaque to commemorate his visit to the Eko Atlantic City project, expressed his appreciation to investors after being shown round the project by Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State.

He said that their investment had helped to provide employment for Nigerians, reducing the rate of unemployment in the country.

"I am extremely grateful to those that agreed to invest so much in our country. I have just gone round to see the Eko Atlantic City. I am extremely impressed with the potentiality of this project and the amount of jobs and its effect on the economy and what it is capable of bringing," Buhari said.

The President, while expressing his satisfaction with the ocean reclamation embarked upon by the state government and its partners, said that the investment had impacted on the country's economy.

Earlier, Gov. Ambode said that the project was an example of what the private sector could do to the nation's economy.

Ambode, who said the project was initiated by the Bola Tinubu administration, noted that it had actually saved the whole of Victoria Island from potential danger.

He said that the project, which would spread over 750 square kilometres, upon completion, would eventually be bigger than Victoria Island.

In an interview with newsmen, Tinubu, who accompanied the President on the tour, described the Eko Atlantic City project as a solution to a potentially dangerous liability.

According to Tinubu, the ocean surge at the Ahmadu Bello end could have wiped out the whole of Lagos Island.

He, however, advised the Federal Government to replicate the project on the nation's coastline.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the inspection marked the end of Buhari's two-day visit to the state.

The 33-year-old netted a brace in injury-time after Mohamed Salah had opened the scoring for Egypt in Portugal’s 2-1 over the African side last week, and those two goals saw the Los Blancos talisman climb into third spot among the top international goalscorers worldwide.

However, he was unable to add to his tally in A Selecao's 3-0 defeat to the Netherlands on Monday, drawing his first blank after scoring in nine successive games for club and country.

Ronaldo, though, did take his overall tally for Portugal to 81 strikes during the international break, and only legendary Hungarian Ferenc Puskas is ahead of him in the European all-time ranking.

Puskas scored 84 goals in 89 appearances for Hungary between 1945 and 1956, while Ronaldo scored his 81 in 148 games since debuting for Portugal in 2003. He has since netted against 34 different nations, but never against European giants France, Spain, Germany, Italy or England, as pointed out by UEFA.

Ronaldo did find the back of the net in 56 games for the 2016 UEFA European Championship winners, and saw his side win 47 of them, while drawing four and losing just five of the games in which he scored.

Portugal will still face Tunisia, Belgium and Algeria before kicking off their 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign against Spain.
