Iwobi Arsenal teammate could miss rest of the season

Alex Iwobi Arsenal teammate Henrikh Mkhitaryan could reportedly miss the remainder of the season due to the injury he sustained during Thursday Europa League clash with CSKA Moscow.

The 29-year-old Armenian international suffered a medial knee ligament injury and was forced off after 61 minutes of Gunners' 4-1 victory over Russian outfit at Emirate Stadium but the extent of the damage could be worse than initially feared.

According to Telegraph, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger previously confirmed that Mkhitaryan will miss this weekend's Premier League clash with Southampton, but the latest reports suggest he could be out for as long as six weeks.

"He has a scan but the medial knee ligament has been touched,” said Wenger. “We’ll know more about that soon. For how long he will be out, I don’t know. The first impression is not too positive. I fear [it could be several weeks] and I hope I’m wrong.”

Mkhitaryan, who joined Arsenal from Manchester United during the January transfer window, has been a key part of the Gunners' Europa League campaign this season.

Arsenal are already without Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - their other big January signing – in the Europa League due to him having already played this season for Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League

Mkhitaryan has banged in four goals and seven assists since arriving at the Emirates Stadium.
