Tottenham have been gifted an opening goal by an absolute howler from Karnezis, who spills a Trippier cross into the path of Eriksen, who lifts the ball over the scrambling goalkeeper to Alli for a simple two-touch tap in to make 1-0 in the 16 minutes of the game.

A slack pass from Dier hands possession back to Watford midfielder Capoue, who threads a neat through ball into Gray and the former Burnley man prods a first-time effort at goal, but Lloris gets down to make a fine save.

Hornets move forward as Hughes splits the Spurs defence and finds Doucoure, who works the ball onto his right foot for a powerful shot which is well held by Lloris from 12 yards out.

Lloris has to make his third good save of the half as he pushes away a Richarlison drive, left-footed across the goalkeeper after Gray had picked out a pass to release the South American.

Kane extends Spurs three minutes into second-half after England international slips from trying to meet Son's original cross but is back on his feet to knock hope the second ball from Trippier from eight yards out to make 2-0 and his 27th league goal of the season with four behind Mohamed Salah.

Trippier delivery from a free kick into box Vertonghen rose up to nod ball against the post, with Kane unable to sort out his feet in time to tap home for his second of the game.

Watford captain Deeney provides the perfect set up, getting above Spurs left-back Davies to nudges Holebas’ cross down into the centre of the area. Richarlison is there to meet it, but swings wildly at his half-volley, lashing the ball over.

Doucoure play inch-perfect through-ball to Deulofeu rounds Lloris and slots the ball into the net, but the offside flag had already been raised against the Spaniard.
