Retired Airforce General emerges APC chairman in Kaduna

RETIRED Airforce General, Air Commodore Emmanuel Jekada from Zango Kataf of Kaduna state has emerged as the newly elected chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the state.

The newly elected chairman and 35 others were elected on Saturday in line with the National headquarters directives that all state congresses to elect party officials must hold on the 19th, May 2018.

The election which was held at Trade Fair complex, along Kaduna/Zaria road under a peaceful atmosphere saw the governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai arriving at the venue in the afternoon in company of top government officials.

It was gathered that delegates from 23 local government areas who took part in the election stormed the venue of the event as early as 8 am amid tight security.

The election which was through consensus saw the delegates unanimously affirming all the 36 names presented at the congress.

Earlier, in his welcome address, governor El-rufai remarked that with the successful conduct of the wards and local government congresses as well as the party’s performance in the just concluded local government election, APC still remains the party to beat.

To this end, he said history was about to be made as new officials that will chart a new course for the party and change the fortunes of the party for good are about to emerge.
