BREAKING: Stoke City sign Super Eagles midfielder Etebo


Relegated Premier League club Stoke City have announced the signing of Super Eagles midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo from Portuguese outfit Feirense for a fee of 7.2 million euros.

The 22-year-old Nigeria international has put pen to paper on a five-year deal that will keep him at the Bet365 Stadium until June 30, 2023.

Etebo came off the bench during the recent friendly against England at Wembley spent the second half of last season on loan at Las Palmas where 12 appearances for the team from Gran Canaria.

''We are delighted Etebo has chosen to join Stoke City, becoming our first signing of the summer,'' Chief Executive Tony Scholes told Stoke City's official website.

''I’m particularly pleased that he took the time to look beyond our current league status and understand who we are as a club before choosing us ahead of current Premier League and Bundesliga clubs.”

Manager Gary Rowett added: ''We’re really excited to have got the deal over the line for Etebo. I’m looking forward to seeing him in a Stoke City shirt as I’m sure our supporters are too.''

He has been capped 14 times by Nigeria and he hopes to make a major impact as Super Eagles set to battle Croatia, Iceland and Argentina in Group D in Russia.

Etebo, who started his career with Warri Wolves before joined Feirense in 2016 and made 45 league appearances, scoring seven goals.
