Mahmoud Dahoud agreed to join Borussia Dortmund
The Germany U21 international had been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League for 2017-18, but he will be remaining in the Bundesliga
Mahmoud Dahoud has agreed a deal to join Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season for an undisclosed fee.
The Germany youth international has signed a contract that will keep him at Signal Iduna Park until June 2022, with reports that circulated in 2016 suggesting that he had a €10 million release clause at Borussia Monchengladbach if purchased this summer.
Mor dreaming of Madrid move
"Mo Dahoud is a hugely talented and exciting player for central midfield and one we have been watching intensively for several years," Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc told the club's official website .
"He has already shown he can play at the top level."
The highly rated 21-year-old midfielder, who can also play in a forward role, had reportedly been the subject of a transfer tug-of-war between Dortmund and Liverpool in recent days - although Goal revealed on Wednesday that the Reds were out of the running .
A report in Germany had claimed that Jurgen Klopp sanctioned an offer of €25million in an effort to secure Dahoud's signature, but a meeting with Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel convinced the player not to move to the Premier League.
Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl said of the deal: "It was important for the player and the club that a decision was reached. Now it's off our minds and we can move on.
"We will reinvest the money we get for Dahoud and try to find a good replacement for him."
Dahoud has made 32 appearances in all competitions this season, including four in the Champions League group stage
'EVEN JESUS DID NOT PLEASE EVERYONE' - RONALDO ARTIST DEFENDS SCULPTURE OF MADRID STAR
The unveiling of a piece of work to honour the Portuguese superstar at Madeira airport has caused quite a stir, but the forward is said to be a fan
The artist behind a much-maligned sculpture of Cristiano Ronaldo claims the Real Madrid superstar is happy with the design.
An unveiling at Madeira airport on Wednesday caused quite a stir, with the design being questioned by many.
Ronaldo: I didn't ask for this!
Ronaldo was on hand to pass judgement on the work, though, and was happy to pose for photographs as he was honoured by the island on which he grew up.
Emanuel Santos, creator of the piece, insists the 32-year-old also gave his approval before the grand reveal, with the Euro 2016 winner clearly not overly concerned by the opinion of others.
"Even Jesus did not please everyone. This is a matter of taste, it’s not as simple as it seems," Santos said in an interview with Portuguese website
Globo Sports .

"I used photos of Cristiano Ronaldo that I searched on the internet as a base. I put the photos next to me and started working on the bust.
“What matters is the impact that this work generates. There is always the possibility of making a difference, I was prepared for all this."
Santos added: “Cristiano saw the photos that his brother sent him. I was with the brother at Cristiano’s museum in Madeira and from the messages he sent, I could tell that he liked what he saw."
Bizarre Ronaldo bust unveiled
While not addressing the issue of the sculpture directly, Ronaldo did speak of his delight at seeing his achievements recognised in his native Portugal.
He said: "Seeing my name being given to this airport is something very special, everyone knows that I am proud of my country and especially my home city.
"Thank you very much to the president of the regional government Miguel Albuquerque for having had the courage and the firmness to do it."

Happy and honored to have my name given to the Madeira airport! ✈️
The 32-year-old later posted on Twitter: "Happy and honored to have my name given to the Madeira airport!"
The tribute has also been welcomed by Portugal’s president, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, with Ronaldo considered to be “an example of excellence [that] projects Madeira and Portugal across the world far more than anybody else."
Ronaldo is the current holder of the prestigious Ballon d’Or crown – a title has now claimed on four occasions – while his efforts in Madrid this season have delivered 26 goals to domestic and Champions League campaigns.

Nigeria football federation support Rohr
The Nigeria Football Federation has thrown its weight behind Manager of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr, over his decision to alter the team’s leadership last week. Rohr stunned the players in London last week when he announced that Ogenyi Onazi would lead the team against Senegal with Elderson Echiejile as his assistant. This was done in the presence of Ahmed Musa, an assistant to Mikel Obi.
The Leicester player was in camp for the friendly encounter against Senegal. The Manager also stated that Mikel remained the substantive skipper. In a reaction, the NFF’s Technical Director, Bitrus Bewarang, said the decision to pick who captains the Super Eagles in the Nations Cup and World Cup preparations and qualifica-tions rested with Rohr.
He said he could explain why Onazi was picked to lead the team in place of Musa who is the assistant captain, every coach had his preference. Bewarang said whoever captains the team was irrelevant as far as the goal of getting results was achieved. “It does not matter who leads the squad as far as there is no rancour or disunity in the team.
The most important thing is to get results,” he stated. It was learnt that the Super Eagles were already divided over this development as some of them viewed what happened to Musa was an embarrassment to the player.
Our correspondent also learnt that Musa requested to relinquish the band when he got wind of the impending changes Rohr was planning to make before the friendly. Musa did the same when he was named the captain after the exit of Vincent Enyeama who voluntarily retired from the national team.
He remained the captain until Coach Samson Siasia gave the band to Mikel who is the most senior player after Enyeama dumped the Eagles. Rohr, it was also scooped, was considering giving the substantive band to the most consistent, hardworking and reliable player in his quest for the Nations and World Cup tickets.

Barcelona star to face suspension
BARCELONA SUPERSTAR LIONEL MESSI FACES BOLIVIA SUSPENSION AFTER FOUL-MOUTHED RANT
Daniel Edwards
Linesman Marcelo Vangasse is alleged to have been verbally abused by the Argentina captain against Chile
Argentina captain Lionel Messi is expected to face suspension for Tuesday's World Cup qualifier against Bolivia after being reported for a foul-mouthed outburst.
Messi scored the only goal of Thursday's 1-0 win over Chile, hitting from the spot after referee Sandro Ricci gave a dubious penalty for a push on Angel Di Maria.
But the Barcelona star was enraged by linesman Marcelo Van Gasse in the second half, allegedly verbally abusing the official.
"F*** off, your mother's c***," he is reported to have screamed at Van Gasse, before refusing to shake his hand at the final whistle.
'Argentina aren't Messi-dependent'
And while the incident was not included in the officials' original report, it was added on Monday and sent to Conmebol.
The governing body's disciplinary committee will now have to decide what punishment to hand down to Messi and, more importantly, when it should come into effect.
The Argentine Football Association (AFA) is aware of the possible sanctions and accept that their skipper should not be treated differently from any other player, regardless of his standing in world football.
AFA vice-president Armando Perez told La Tercera: “If he behaved out of place, then he should be penalised like any other player.
“He should not get a different deal just because he is the best player on the planet. It seems to me that he is in a position to be investigated.
“Conmebol is asking for all of the information. Everything that we know must be passed on.”
Neymar: Brazil attracting attention of Messi
Should Messi be suspended, he would miss Tuesday's clash with Bolivia in La Paz, although a prospective appeal could yet see him take the field.
Conmebol could also order the suspension to come into effect after the current international window, in which case Messi would miss at the very least August's visit to Uruguay in the next round of qualifiers.
Finally, the committee could yet opt to disregard the amendment to the match report and allow Messi's outburst to pass without punishment.
Argentina currently lie third in theSouth American qualifiers, behind Brazil and Uruguay.

GREAT MATHEMATICAL MYSTERY YOU NEVER NOTICED
WONDERS OF MATHEMATICAL MYSTERY:
PROVEN FACTS BEHIND OUR TWO PALMS.
Spread your left hand palm ,you will see the number 81( ۸١ ) written in Arabic Spread your right hand palm, you will see the number 18( ١۸ ) written in Arabic .
Now : Add 81( ٨١) and 18 (١۸ ), gives you 99,THE TOTAL NUMBER OF NAMES OF ALLAH IN QU’RAN Subtract 18 from 81, gives 63, THE TOTAL YEARS OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD (saw) LIVED IN THIS EARTH .
If you multiply the two digits of 99 i.e., 9x9 it will return you your left palm number 81 If you multiply the two digits of 63 i.e., 6x3 it will return you your right palm number 18.
If you reverse the digits of 81 it will give you 18.
If you reverse the digits of 18 it will give you 81 .
The common denominator of 81 and 18 is 3 and 9 . Now lets see what numbers they give after division : 81/3 = 27 and 81/9 = 9 : Qu’ran revealed on 27th day of 09th month of Arabic calendar (Lunar)
18/3 = 6 and 18/9 = 2 : In Qu’ran chapter 6 and just after verse 6 ALLAH spoke about the proof of the revelation to Muhammad (saw) by citing the example as such given in their HANDS .
In 2 places (2:97 and 97:1) ALLAH mentioned the month(Ramadan) and date (Night of Qadar, i.e.,27th of Ramadan)
If you multiply 81 and 18 it is (81x18) 1458. According to the Julian calendar and Hijri year exactly 1458 hijri years passed from the date of Muhammad’s (saw) birth (570 AD) till 2007 (The year when this mystery of human palms was discovered ) .
Just write the digits of 81 and 18 serially : 8 1 1 8 . Now add 8+1+1+8 = 18 .
Now what so especial about 18 .
In Qu’ran chapter 18 , verse 18 has mentioned something about RIGHT SIDE and LEFT SIDE .
In Bible deutronomy , chapter 18 , verse 18 GOD prophesied to MOSES(as) that HE will send a prophet like MOSES (saw) who would come from his brethren (i.e., from the lineage of Ishmael) . He was the last prophet MUHAMMAD (saw) . That is the main mystery of 18 in our hand.
I urge my sisters and brothers to
share this . Hope so many Known but undiscovered mysteries will be discovered.Insha Allah.

LAGOS—Doctors at the General Hospital, Shomolu, Lagos, are battling to save the life of the Vice Chairman, National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Palm Grove branch, who was allegedly stabbed by one of his members, Tuesday night, over a girlfriend.
Two suspects, Ayodele Muyiwa and James Friday, alleged to have carried out the attack, have been arrested by police and are still being detained at Shomolu Division.
It was gathered that the main suspect, Ayodele Muywa, has been having a brawl with the victim, identified simply as Omotunde, whom he accused of snatching his girlfriend.
A member of the union, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said: “When Muyiwa came to the park on Tuesday, he engaged Omotunde in a quarrel, accusing him of snatching his girlfriend to spite him because he was rich.
Omotunde in a pool of blood.
“They started exchanging words. In the process, Muyiwa carried a plank with which he threatened to hit Omotunde. He bent down and dared Muyiwa to carry out his threat, but he did not.

Brazilian Prolific Murderer closely back to football career
THE SHOCKING STORY OF THE BRAZILIAN WHO FED HIS GIRLFRIEND TO DOGS & IS NOW RETURNING TO FOOTBALL
Daniel Edwards
Bruno's potential comeback was widely protested on International Women's Day, while he remains unrepentant for his part in a shocking murder
COMMENT
Less than seven years in prison was scant punishment for a grisly crime that shocked Brazilian society. Now disgraced goalkeeper Bruno is back out on the streets and, seemingly unrepentant for the pain he caused, is looking to return to football and pick up almost where he left off.
Back in 2010, the world appeared to be firmly at the feet of the Flamengo No. 1. Coming into his prime at 26, he was already a folk hero with the Rio de Janeiro club for his stunning performances and widely tipped to succeed Julio Cesar as Brazil's shot-stopper for the next decade and beyond.
Even clubs of Barcelona's stature had registered their interest in Bruno, although Flamengo were not prepared to release him without a fight. Having seen efforts by gargantuan investment group MSI to send him to Europe fail, they swooped in and purchased 90 percent of his playing rights, ending the third-party ownership so prevalent in the game across the Atlantic Ocean.
Xabi Alono announced retirement
In June of that year, however, the football community was rocked by rumours of his connection to the disappearance of Eliza Samudio. The pretty young model, 25, had moved to Sao Paulo as a teenager and started working in a series of erotic films as she dreamed of following the footsteps of the likes of Gisele Bundchen and Alessandra Ambrosio in the glamourous world of fashion. During that period - witnesses maintain she and Bruno were in a relationship since 2008, while the player himself claims their relationship was limited to an orgy that took place in 2009 - she became acquainted with Rio's new superstar, and at the start of 2010 gave birth to a son that she insisted was his.
Samudio's story was far from unique. Players of the calibre of Ronaldo and Romario have attested to the existence of wild sex parties amongst the elite of Brazilian football, where young women are always available and willing in return for the chance to rub shoulders with the stars. But as the macabre details of Bruno's relationship filtered out and police continued the desperate search for his victim, a picture of a monstrous, controlling personality emerged.
According to Eliza, prior to giving birth she was held effectively captive by Bruno and his friends, known as 'Russo' and 'Macarrao', and forced to take a substance that would induce abortion. At the time of her disappearance she had obtained a court order to try and prove the goalkeeper's paternity. On June 4, still hoping for reconciliation with the father of her child, Samudio made the fateful mistake of accepting an invitation to visit him at his home in Esmeraldas, Minas Gerais state. She was never heard from again.
Bruno initially denied suspicions he was involved in the disappearance, which police rapidly altered to a murder investigation. "I pray she is found, and when that happens I will fight to take care of the kid, because you cannot abandon them," he said in an interview with Veja .
PLAY
Just a month later, however, a 17-year-old cousin of the goalkeeper admitted to police she had been lured to Minas Gerais, cut up into pieces and fed to Bruno's rottweiler puppies. The sickening crime saw an ex-police officer, 'Macarrao' and an ex-girlfriend of Bruno sentenced to prison terms ranging between five and 22 years for their involvement, while Bruno was sentenced to a total of 22 years for homicide, kidnapping, false imprisonment and hiding the body. Flamengo moved to cancel his contract while the murder investigation was still ongoing, amid reports that Bruno had attempted suicide twice while in custody awaiting trial.
So why, then, is the goalkeeper walking the streets once more with less than a third of his sentence completed? On February 24, 2017, Supreme Court minister Marco Aurelio Mello ordered his release on the grounds that he spent three years in prison awaiting trial, an excessive period for an inmate that was a first-time offender and who held a fixed address and stable job. Mello upheld a request from the defence to consider as 'preventative custody' all the time Bruno was in jail up until his appeal was heard, a flagrant technicality that nevertheless ensured his freedom. Even more objectionable was his argument that Bruno "had an excellent prior record", indefensible when one considers the horrific nature of his crime.
Ever since leaving prison Bruno and his agents have been touting indiscriminately for a new team. Lucio Adolfo and Luan Veloso Coutinho, who represent the goalkeeper, affirm that 10 sides are interested in his signature, some of which are in the top-flight Serie A teams; and that a decision on his future could be made by the start of next week. For his part, Bruno shows little sign of regret for his crimes, as evidenced in a chilling interview given after his release.
"However much time I spent inside, I want to make clear that a life sentence for me wouldn't have brought her back to life," he told
Globo.
"I paid dearly, it was not easy. This will help me as an experience, it has been a learning experience, not a punishment."
The extraordinarily detached tone of his words, and the description of his time behind bars for a shockingly violent homicide as a learning experience suggest that at 32 Bruno's belief he is above the law has not diminished with the intervening years, and he remains stubbornly unrepentant for having claimed a young life in such a barbaric manner. Indeed, he is yet to reveal to authorities where Samudio's remains were hidden, a constant source of pain to her family.
The mother of Eliza Samudio, meanwhile, lives in fear. "Who's to say that this story will not be repeated with me or with my grandson?" she said to reporters. "I have told Bruninho to stay away from the doorway in the house and never leave school with someone who isn't me or my husband." But she is not alone; almost 15,000 people signed an online petition calling for him not to be signed by Bangu, one of the reported suitors (although reports are denied by the club) and Wednesday's International Women's Day was accompanied by a strong movement from women's rights NGOs to end Bruno's football career.
"Players are seen as idols, and this type of example is not acceptable for our children. We will not stand for this symbol of death visiting our houses every Sunday," Vana Lopes, founder of "We Are All Victims United," told Estado .
"Is being a goalkeeper all it takes now to commit murder and then be applauded?"
The story of Bruno is one of arrogance and impunity. Back in 2010, the goalkeeper appeared to believe that his status as a football rock star exempted him from following the laws and morality society needs to function in harmony, brutally killing an ex-lover because she threatened his perfect world with a dose of reality. Now football must answer back, and make it clear that his crimes will not be tolerated by letting him return to the sport he brought shame upon.

CIA could hack into phones, TVs and other electronics
WikiLeaks: CIA could hack into phones, TVs and other electronics to turn them into permanent listening devices
The 'Weeping Angel' technology has been compared with the Telescreens in 1984
The CIA built software that could allow it to turn any phone or smart TV into a listening device, according to WikiLeaks.
A division of the US spying agency is built to explore vulnerabilities in gadgets and use them to listen in on their owners, according to new documents made public by Julian Assange.
"The increasing sophistication of surveillance techniques has drawn comparisons with George Orwell's 1984, but "Weeping Angel", developed by the CIA's Embedded Devices Branch (EDB), which infests smart TVs, transforming them into covert microphones, is surely its most emblematic realization," the organisation wrote in a release.
Gadgets and tech news in pictures
The Weeping Angel attack would be able to infiltrate smart TVs and make them appear to be turned off, according to WikiLeaks. In that state, they could listen in on everything that people were saying around them, the report claims.
"The attack against Samsung smart TVs was developed in cooperation with the United Kingdom's MI5/BTSS," WikiLeaks wrote. "After infestation, Weeping Angel places the target TV in a 'Fake-Off' mode, so that the owner falsely believes the TV is off when it is on. In 'Fake-Off' mode the TV operates as a bug, recording conversations in the room and sending them over the Internet to a covert CIA server."
Smart TVs have previously been criticised for potentially allowing their creators to spy on their users.
Samsung, for instance, added a clause to its privacy terms that apparently let it listen in on users' conversations, which is made possible because the microphones are turned on at all times.
Those same powers could be exercised by the EDB to remotely control and listen in on phones, according to the WikiLeaks release. Once that happened, any data – including location, audio and text messages, or anything that can be seen or heard by the microphone and camera – could be sent to the CIA.
Exploits and vulnerabilities allow that team to break into both iPhones and Androids, according to the organisation. Once they did so, messages sent through any apps or information discussed around the phone could potentially be read – even if it was done through apparently secure apps.
"These techniques permit the CIA to bypass the encryption of WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram, Wiebo, Confide and Cloackman by hacking the "smart" phones that they run on and collecting audio and message traffic before encryption is applied," WikiLeaks claimed.
WikiLeaks create a new CIA record
Wikileaks releases CIA records, iPhone, Android, Samsung hacks released*
WikiLeaks has released over 8,000 pages of documents today. These detail CIA programs that break encryption in iPhones, Android phones, Samsung TVs and other devices.
As a result, the CIA has access to private messages on apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, Weibo, and Confide. They did this by hacking the smartphones. The apps themselves are safe, however it is clear that if the CIA gets access to the device, nothing on the phone or device is safe.
Other CIA hacks detailed in today’s WikiLeaks disclosures include malware attacks to Windows, Mac OS X and Linux operating systems.
It is clear from the documents that the US Government has been purchasing hacks from third parties and sharing vulnerabilities with spy agencies around the world.
Edward Snowden reacted by saying: The CIA reports show the [U.S. Government] developing vulnerabilities in US products, then intentionally keeping the holes open. Reckless beyond words!

UNILAG student protest over Rustication of fellow student
UNILAG Students Protest Over Rustication Of Fellow Students
Movement and activities at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) were yesterday interrupted by protesting students who were agitating for immediate and unconditional reinstatement of the 11 executive members of the institution’s students union.
The protesters who didn't mind the heavy rain, blocked the university main gate hindering students and visitors from entering the premises.
The students also demanded a call to lift the illegal ban on the UNILAG Students Union and improvement in welfare and conducive learning environment.
Meanwhile, Deputy Registrar, Information Unit of the institution, Toyin Adebule, in a telephone conversation with newsmen, denied that the protesters are UNILAG students.
Adebule added that the protesters were activists and rusticated students who lost their case in court.
He also said the school management have issued a press statement to that effect, informing the public that the University of Lagos students are not protesting rather, the gathering outside the gate consists of rusticated students and allies.

ALLEGRI CONFIRM TO REPLACE WENGER
Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri has reached a verbal agreement with Arsenal to replace Arsene Wenger should he stand down, according to the Daily Express.
With Wenger's future at the Emirates Stadium uncertain, Allegri is in pole position to take over if the Frenchman declines to extend his 20-year tenure beyond the end of 2016-17.
Arsenal expect Alexis Sanchez to leave this summer and are already planning for life without the Chilean, according to the Daily Mail .
Alexis is out of contract in 2018 and is yet to sign a new deal, leaving the Gunners to identify Alexandre Lacazette, Andre Silva and Marco Reus as their top targets to replace him.
We are the cause of how hard the economy of Nigeria is today
I went to a secondary school( name withheld for security purpose) in Lagos.
After the normal introduction of myself to the students.
I was opportune to ask for some the student's names at random.
The most annoying part is when I called a girl of age probably 17. When ask her of her name she said with a blushing style " My name is Adeyinka Adebimpe.
Yes I feel like testing her if she knows what she was saying or not.
Then I asked her to spell it.
And she said "Hardeyhinkha Hardebeampe"
Yes I was not really concerned about if the spelling correct or not. But why must /AD/ replaced by /HARD/. Do you think God is illiterate that he didn't understand English?
Now you complain that things get hard for you.
Abeg show us your real name.

Mourinho comment on Manchester united draw against Fc Bournemouth
MOURINHO REFLECTS ON BOURNEMOUTH DRAW
Jose Mourinho was understandably frustrated after Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw by Bournemouth on Saturday.
Marcos Rojo gave the Reds a first-half lead but ex-Reds striker Joshua King equalised from the penalty spot. The visitors' Andrew Surman was sent off by referee Kevin Friend but United could not capitalise, with goalkeeper Artur Boruc saving Zlatan Ibrahimovic's spot-kick and making several other key stops.
Mourinho gave his view of the result but refused to be drawn on the incident between Ibrahimovic and Tyrone Mings at the end of the first half. Here are the key points from the manager's post-match interviews with MUTV and Sky Sports...
On the game
"It was more of the same again. The Man of the Match was the opposition goalkeeper. It's incredible the number of chances we missed. We played amazing football in the first half; it should be 3-0 or 4-0 and I don’t know how it ended 1-1. In the second half, we lost a little bit of the quality and dimension of good football we had in the first half against opponents who, more or less, decided –and I’m not critical of that – to give up and just to defend. Once more, we deserved to win by far but we didn’t. We lost two points and a good opportunity to close the gap."
On Mings and Ibrahimovic
"I don’t like to speak after matches. The referee was there; if you ask me if I’m going to be happy if Mings gets a four or five-game ban, I really don’t care about it. He knows what he did better than anyone, better than the referee the intention or the emotion of the moment. The referee made two important decisions which were right –two penalties, no doubt about it. If we didn’t win it was because Boruc made an amazing performance. We were not lucky, we were not good enough to materialise goals with the dominance we had."
On playing against 10 men
"If we score one goal, we are winning. To play against one man less is always a big advantage. When you play against a team with a good result in the pocket, they close the door. The wingers don’t attack, they defend. The midfielders don’t push up to attack, they stay in low block. We had so many chances in the second half to score, it’s not about one less man – it’s about us missing so many chances."
On United's second league penalty of the season
"Making fun of it, we stopped practising penalties because we were four or five months without a penalty. Zlatan, Pogba. These guys stopped training penalties and then, when a penalty comes, they are not ready to take it. That’s it – in a funny way."
On moving on
"We have to. To other things. Probably these guys at other clubs in the Premier League have two or three days off, time to disconnect, and we have got to go to Russia, to Rostov in the Europa League on Thursday. We have to move on and go for the next one."

Zimbabwe flood
Zimbabwe flood killed 246 people and thousands of homes affected since December.
Floods in Zimbabwe have killed 246 people and left nearly 2,000 homeless since December, government officials said. The southern African country has appealed to international donors for $100m to help those affected by the floods, which have washed away several bridges and roads and cut off some communities from surrounding areas.
Saviour Kasukuwere, Zimbabwe's minister of local government, declared a national disaster and announced the death toll on Thursday, saying 128 people have been injured in the floods.
Unable to get balance of payment support from foreign lenders due to unpaid arrears, and with more than 90 percent of its national budget going to salaries, Zimbabwe's public infrastructure has been crumbling for more than a decade.

Manchester united captain to quit for Everton move.
The Manchester United captain will receive further offers from China at the end of the season but would consider a return to Goodison Park
Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney is open to a summer return to boyhood club Everton, Goal
understands.
Rooney has accepted that his time at Old Trafford is coming to an end and United are unlikely to stand in his way should a suitable offer arrive at the end of the season.
It has emerged that United knocked back Everton’s attempts to sign Rooney on loan during the January transfer window, insisting he still had a role to play in the coming months.
But Jose Mourinho’s casual approach to the idea of Rooney moving to China last month made it clear to the England striker that his long-term future lies away from Old Trafford.
Several big-spending Chinese clubs had shown an interest in signing the 31-year-old in recent weeks and are likely to try again in the summer, while Major League Soccer has long been mooted as a possible destination, but sources close to the striker have indicated that he would not rule out an emotional return to Goodison Park.
The opportunity to stay in the north west of England is thought to provide just as much incentive when it comes to deciding his future as any financial considerations.
While Rooney could expect to earn more than his current weekly wage of around £300,000 per week, including bonuses, if he were to move to China, he would have to take a considerable pay cut in the event of a return to Goodison Park.
Even with Rooney thought to be open to accepting a lower wage packet, Everton would still need to establish whether they can offer their former star a big-money contract.
Romelu Lukaku is still in talks over a deal which would make him the highest-paid player in the club’s history on more than £100,000 per week, though his agent, Mino Raiola, has previously made no secret of his desire to move the Belgian to one of Europe’s biggest clubs.
The picture will become clearer as summer approaches but Everton manager Ronald Koeman and director of football Steve Walsh have already indicated that they would be willing to strike a deal for Rooney.
"If the opportunity arose for him to come back, and it sat right with everybody, then it's something we’d look at,” Walsh said this week. “He's a class apart.
"All the things said about him are true and I think he’s one of England’s greatest ever players, so why would he not be of interest to us?"
Koeman has also hinted at the possibility, saying: "I still think Wayne Rooney is playing at a high level and he made a good choice staying at Manchester United and in the Premier League.
"It's all about what the player likes, what Manchester United need to do and we are not involved in that project. Every player who we feel can make the team stronger is welcome at Everton."
Nigeria Police kill notorious kidnapper, Vampire, who escaped from court
The police said Thursday they had killed a dreaded kidnap-for-ransom kingpin, Henry Chibueze, notoriously known as “Vampire”, in Omu Awa forest, Ikwerre Local Government Area in Rivers state.
Police Spokesman, Jimoh Moshood, said Mr. Chibueze was killed by the police special forces, led by the I-G’s Intelligence Response Team at 1 a.m. on Thursday.
He said five suspected members of the gang were also arrested and cache of arms and ammunition recovered from them.
The force spokesman said the gang had been responsible for so many kidnappings and robbery attacks in Imo, Abia, Rivers, Delta and other states in the South-East and South-South.
He said the arrested members of the gang would be presented to journalists and charged to court on completion of investigation.
Mr. Chibueze was the criminal rescued away by his gang members on January 27 in the premises of an Owerri High Court.
He was arrested in 2015 and had been in prison custody following the kidnap of the wife of a government official.
Mr. Chibueze, who was brought to the court along with other arrested suspects, escaped when gunmen in a sports utility vehicle that had been parked at the premises opened fire immediately he disembarked from the prison van.
The kidnapper was then spirited away by the gunmen, leaving five prisons officials and some bystanders wounded by the gunfire. Two other suspects were taken along with him.
The public relations officer of Prisons, James Madugba, said the accomplices had been mistaken for operatives of the State Security Services (SSS), hence no alarm was raised when they were spotted at the court.
Mr. Chibueze, who was paraded by the SSS before the state governor in 2015, admitted to having carried out several kidnappings in the state and beyond before his arrest.
After Mr. Chibueze’s escape in January, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo state announced a N5 million bounty for information that would lead to his arrest.
